Comedy Central has been advertising the hell out of their new show for quite some time now. But was it as good as they made us believe it would be? Well, kinda...

I thought the show was pretty good, actually.  Sure, there are a few parts that are kinda stupid, but there are far more parts that are kinda funny.  You might be thinking, "How much can they do with a cops-style parody?"  Apparently, more than one would think.

The show centers around seven Reno, Nevada cops, who come from all walks of life.  The characters are pretty diverse, and have a lot to offer in terms of potential funny.  Plus, having seven, we are presented with many different possible pairings for future shows, or possibly even shows that focus on just one of the officers.

As far as the comedy goes, well, it's definitely there.  Sure, some of the things may be just plain stupid, but what show doesn't have it's quirks in that field?  Often, the situations that the officers arrive upon are hilarious.

For example, the first episode featured a comedic sequence in which two officers had to confront a street performer who was hanging around outside a store front.  It ended up being a mime, and while one officer was getting very upset that the mime wasn't talking and being cooperative with him, the other was busy playing along and trying to guess what the mime was performing.  The scene finally ended with the first officer losing his cool, and beating the mime with his baton.  Another situation brought us to a cop who was working with a new police dog.  The only trouble is, the dog understood German commands, and the officer wasn't quite getting it right.  He ended up being attacked by the dog, with the scene closing as he yells in pain on the ground.

Aside from the out and out physical humor that comes from the officer/suspect confrontations, there are also tiny little bits that you might not even notice, such as the fact that in most of the scenes in which the officers are in a car, they aren't wearing seat belts, or pieces of dialogue that don't quite sit right.  If you don't pay attention these sorts of things will slip by you.

So, was this show the smash comedy hit that some touted it would be?  Not necessarily.  But I think it could have some serious potential, bringing us lots of laughs in future episodes, so keep your eye on this one.  You never know when Comedy Central will pull the plug.
