No word on Xbox 2's official name just yet, but it has been revealed that its internal codename is: Xenon. This is just a project name and will not be final. Microsoft has said its name will have Xbox in it, but it will not be Xbox 2 (since that won't work going up against PlayStation 3, not to mention its lameness factor). Some developers claim to even have seen a prototype of "Xenon" up and running.
For those who care, it seems Nintendo's next system is codenamed "N5". (Hmm, as in Nintendo G5? The current Apple-Mac. They have been friends before with the whole 'cube' deal.)
Both still planned for sometime in 2005 (US).
