A couple of points/questions.

First on the MS handheld, that's not quite the same as a "Mobile Xbox". It's closer to being their PC division expanding to mobile devices, rather than an Xbox spinoff. There's a big difference there and so this wouldn't really be up against "handheld platforms" like PSP and GBA.

On your 2nd post, I'm assuming you mean Nintendo still comes out with their own basic "N5" (ie just plays games), and licenses the technology out for use in DVD players, TiVo, ect. Hmm. Not bad. I wouldn't want "N5" to solely be made by 3d parties (3D0 already tried that), but for those who want the option it might help sell systems (and compete against the "Cell" which will be everywhere). Plus then the basic system could sell cheap for those that already have DVD players and such. I like that idea, in theory. My concern is would people buy it or stick with just the main system anyways? Would it "confuse" people? You would also have to ensure 100% perfect compatibility across the board, which isn't easy.

Wasn't Sega going to do that with Dreamcast at the end there?
