I'm not too big on the 1-5 scale. I like 1-10, but I was an even bigger fan of Gamefan magazine's 1-100 scale.
nbrid has already been through this argument when hynuts decided to go to a 1-5 format for the site. The end was a good one, don't trust Nbrid reviews. (I'm not even going to mention Outtrigger)
Anyway, each scale will work, just don't assume an exact conversion from one scale to another, the more numbers you have, the better you can express exactly how you feel about the game.
