I like the points you brought up about this game. Story based cutscenes were a problem but so was the story as a whole. Most of the characters were very uninteresting.

Another point you had, strafing, leads into the control problems. Resident evil was slightly slower paced than this and now that the action is heavier the slow controls for the series bring the game down a lot. This is not even mentioning the many times players have suffered an arrow in the back because they could neither strafe nor turn quickly enough.

The menu is also a valid point. Resident Evil 4 play very much like a third person shooter with the old style resident evil controls. In most third person shooters I have the ability to run, hide and reload if need be without switching to different menus. The pause in game play due to menus actually pulled me out of the game. I could just take my time and plan out what to do.

Resident evil 4 doesn't really suck so much as it's a rehash of the worst traits of resident evil while adding new ones. It's an average game in my book. Worth a rent but if you payed more than thirty dollars for it you got ripped off.
