I woke up Friday morning to a glowing Wii... the News Channel had launched! After a fairly quick download, I can now keep up with current events. I could actually see myself using this. Wake up in the morning, flip to the slideshow feature (like a news ticker) and get a glimpse of all the latest stories around the world. The globe with news stories scattered around it is also cool, especially when you zoom out and stories combine into these large stacks of paper. It also seems to update more than the forecast channel (usually it's been under an hour old whereas the weather only updates twice a day).
I do have a few complaints. Why can you only get to the globe by first entering a random news story? Also, many stories have links at the bottom but there's no way to click it and view it so what's the point. And what's the point of being able to highlight text? Where are you going to copy it to? Plus if I didn't know better it looks like nothing ever happens in Australia or even Africa since there was not a single story out of those continents. Antarctica I understand, but those?
It also would of been cool if it downloaded itself (I thought that was supposed to be a feature of this whole Connect24 thing?), but it's still a nice addition.
