Thanks to the bastards over at the RIAA, I've decided to join a nation-wide boycott of all labels under their protective shell.

I'm now down to only 80 CDs I can listen to. Among the wonderful bands I lost were The Beastie Boys, Deftones, Beck, Nirvana, NIN, hell even Rage Against the Machine was signed to a label RIAA 'protects,' and so is System of a Down.

So now I'm down to CDs I bought used (I left them in because nobody but disc-go-round saw profits from that sale), 'compilations' I had mixed *wink wink* ( I love the winks, they insinuate what you all know to be true yet at the same time cannot be held as evidence against me for any reason because I have not stated exactly what I mean by wink wink, and nobody can precisely jusge that but myself:) ), and unknown bands. Thank goodness MSI and The O were signed to Uppity Cracker Records!

So if anyone else hates the RIAA, please join this nationwide boycott of *purchasing* (or in my case, listening to CDs I purchased of bands on the labels, I feel I don't need to support the label to support the band (I can just acquire the songs I realy want to hear in an entirely legal matter which cirumvents the label)) from the labels found here.

www.boycott-riaa.com/membership.php

(This is the very same list found on the RIAA site, but that's down so often due to hackers (Gotta love vengeance) that you're better off just going here.)

Yeah I dont even know what cause it is that you are fighting for. I could care less about any kind of crazy business practices. I'll buy cds as cheap as I can if I feel I need to support a band. If not, I'll download mp3's, though lately with my computer, I constantly lose everything...so Im not going to check that list and if anyone informs me that there is a band that I like on there, I'll still listen to the cd because if it's already bought, how would not listening to it hurt them?

I listen to indie music put out on indie labels... The closest thing to mainstream I've bought in the past year was the new Mars Volta album. Therefore, I've just been sitting back and laughing at people who get worked up over piracy.

P.S. If you need some good indie music to listen to Psydd, shoot an IM my way.

I think I'm still good for music...mp3.com is a treasure trove of unknowns. I highly (seriously) suggest that you guys download the songs from "Gawker Slowdown." All this stuff is great.

Heh, RIAA! Check out my hate list in bacons... it wasn't all a joke:)

I can't feel sorry for something that gouged its consumers for years and now tries to appeal to consumers on moral grounds to not pirate. Who sue potential customers. Who do the opposite of any real business and not try I dont know lowering CD prices, making more attractive packages to get people to buy more?

That said I won't allow it to keep me from buying CDs for bands I really like. And defintely wont keep me from listening to CDs I already have. That doesnt make much sense IMO.

Is Vagrant a major record label? I know I got the Alkaline Trio cd in April...then theres that Reel Big Fish cd who is now on Jive I think...Other than that my cd purchases dont really fall into this MTV generation of music.

The last CDs I bought were Radiohead's Hail to the Theif and Northern State (I think, it's been so long, sniff). Both on RIAA lables, and guess what. I don't care. All I know is they both kick ass! Another album of the year for Radiohead;)

I'll just download other crap like Smash Mouth who have sucked after their first 2 CDs. Oddly a song on the preview disc for their last album that didnt make the final cut is on their newest album (105) and is the only song I like since their first 2 discs so I guess it's good to see it wasn't thrown out. But I digress...
