According to gamers.com, Nintendo has pushed back the release of GC2 to possibly sometime in 2006 (from the originally reported 2005 release date).

If in fact PS3 and Xbox2 also don''t come out until that time (which is very possible), no big deal. But if this means yet again Nintendo comes out last... they are screwed. It's for keeps this time. After the disapointing sales of GC, if GC2 does the same... Nintendo doesn't have to be first but it has to come out the same year and sell in the same holiday season. Plus it would show maybe they weren't serious when they said they planned on being more agressive.

(And on their saying they arn't worried about PSP, they better be! I'm not saying PSP is going to take over the world, but if it doesn't worry them it could...)

Im pretty sure this means the other guys are also going to release in early 2006. As far is this "playing for keeps" is concerned, the sad fact of the matter is Microsoft and Sony are huge corporations that can afford to take risks and maybe even lose 2 generations of system hardware. Nintendo on the other hand cannot continue to lose in the race because all they have to fall back on is the game boy line. I wouldnt be surprised if Nintendo decides to just make the handheld if this next generation doesn't go too well for them. I think their key to success would have to be bringing their big labels online. It may not be profitable, but online smash bros or a MMORPG Zelda would definately sell systems. More systems means a larger userbase. A larger userbase means more 3rd party support. It's a simple equation that even a simpleton like myself can understand. I think the fact that the e-reader isnt going to Europe says something about Nintendo's philosophy. Hell, the best innovative GC add-on (the panasonic SD memory card) hasn't even come out yet!

Well personally I don't really think an online Smash Bros or Zelda (or even their sequals) would help. What Nintendo needs more then that is a new, gritter, more 'adult' series like it seemed Perfect Dark was about to become. And even then that's just for starters. But I digress. Next-gen will be interesting in 2-3 years since this time I go in with no preconcieved notion of what platforms I will get (read: no guarantee I'll get a Nintendo system this time).

NOOOO...eh whatever. Honestly, if PS3 or Next-Box has something I really want from day 1 and "GC2" seems to have a pathetic launch, I could end up getting one of those first. It's pretty much guranteed that I'll get Nintendo's next offering, but who knows what will be in store for the launch.

Eh who am I kidding.
