What the?? Capcom is only expecting to sell/ship 2 million copies of this game? Thats ludacris!!! I am a huge fan of the series, and the new direction sounds, well different, but the "action" button is long over due. Here is the link to where I checked it out..im sure every GC site has the similar info now...Plus the link below has PICTURES! YAY!!
www.gcadvanced.com/articl...artid=1071
Check it out!! Sounds pretty interesting!!
The game can be played in first person or one of two new views. They are basically slight variations on a close third person camera.
It must be viewed in widescreen. If your TV doesn't support the 16:9 aspect ratio, the game will feature black bars on top and bottom of the screen to make sure you experience the game to its fullest on a 4:3 monitor. HDTV users, the game supports 480 progressive scan. This is needed because...
In 3rd person, Leon fills the far left side of the screen. It feels like you are playing a first person shooter even without Leon on the screen.
Controls are them same as before. However, health and ammo will now be onscreen.
Even with the old controls, the new views make it feel like an entirely different game.
Story Line (*Spoilers*)
RE4 takes place in 2004, 6 years after RE2.
Umbrella is gone and with them,...the zombies.
Leon is hired by the president to guard his daughter. Before he can take the job, she is kidnapped and taken to a village in South America where all the villagers hunt him down in an eerie trance.
The worlds are completely wide open.
No more door animations or pre-rendered cutscenes. Everything is done in-engine.
Areas feature a few very brief load-times.
Enemies will react to damage done to them in places. Shooting an enemy in the foot will make them hobble.
Villagers are armed with sickles, axes, pitchforks, and many more sharp objects, which they can throw at you. These are not mindless zombies.
You can shoot the thrown objects out of the air. If you time it right.
There is an action button. For instance, you can shoot an enemy and then quickly close the gap and kick them in the chest. Also to move objects in front of doors to keep villagers from you. Even to push a ladder full of enemies off from you and more.
In a later level, you are in complete darkness and unable to see anything until the moonlight illuminates the villagers.
The villagers are smart. In later levels they get smarter. For instance, if you shoot at one, it won't continue to go towards you. It may run away and if you follow him, it could purposefully lead you to an area where six more await with bow guns. They are more human.

Well... first, 2 million is a pretty good amount considering this is a 3rd party GC game. Many games would like that number, on any system. But I guess for such a big name... eh. I don't know.
Maybe I'm a purist, but I don't like the idea of health/ammo onscreen. Hopefully there will be an option for that.
And... same old controls? WTF? That should of been priority #1. IMO RE can't 'advance' if it sticks with the same control scheme Alone in the Dark started back in 1990 on the PC. I thought RE4 was going to revolutionize RE? There goes that if this alone is true.
And I stopped reading there (screw spoliers! RE is all about the story!)... so we'll see once more is shown. I'm hesitant after RE0, but still... I'm looking forward to 4.
The info for Killer 7 sounds... interesting. The graphic style is amazing, but I fear this will be more of an 'interactive novel' rather than a game when they say things like "In between choices, you have the ability to engage the enemy." How nice......
Quote: Story: You are Harman Smith. A 60 year old man with a rep as the best hitman in the world. You've been hired by the president of the us to stop Kun Lan. A terrorist who has released the Heaven Smile upon the world. Harman Smith has 7 personalities, but actually take physical form. They are not figments of his imagination.
Gameplay: The game will take place across six scenarios, each lasting 2 hours filled with real time cutscenes to deliver the story. You start the game as Dan Smith and change into the others as you progress through the game. Each personality has its own unique style and powers. You will need each persons abilities at certain times to progress. You switch personalities by changing the channel on a TV. You don't actually move in 3d environments. Instead, you choose a direction from choices and then have the ability to move either further down the linear path or turn back to past choices.
In between choices, you have the ability to engage the enemy. The Heaven Smile are invisible and must be scanned. Once scanned, you use the left analog to zoom in and out and the left to take aim. Each Heaven Smile will have a flow of particles pouring from a spot on them. Blast this spot for a one hit ko. Otherwise, be prepared to use some major ammo for the kill.
After the die, they proceed to pulse and spew blood out of many holes in their body until they implode and evaporate.

Concerning Killer 7...what the fuck!? That gameplay confuses the hell out of me...however this did answer one question I had on my mind:
Quote: Harman Smith has 7 personalities, but actually take physical form. They are not figments of his imagination.
I wasn't sure if they were real or not. Now I know. Anyway...it's kinda weird how there are so many "best assassins in the world." I'd like to see them all get together and watch them all die non-dramatically like they would normally deserve. |
