I would like to welcome you to the latest in nbrid technology. Here you see the culmination of MANY hours of work on the scale of the fabled "evo" of yore. Here you will find a much friendlier interface than the old forum. I'll go over a few things you may want to know.
First of all, I want you to drag your mouse over the logo, particularly the N, b, and r. They link to the main 3 forums. You can drag your mouse over the logo in other places but I doubt you'll find anything else of importance.
The other area of navigation is to the lower right of the Nbrid logo. There you can access the memberlist, faq, your profile, and a working search engine to find those old threads. Under that you will find your log in/inbox area. Check out the inbox in case you were sent a private message for some odd reason. We've had this feature before but now it actually works well!
Moving along to posting threads. If you feel inclined to post something (and you should!) there are new post icons for your convenience. Ok now this is important, YOU MUST ABSOLUTELY CHOOSE A POSTING ICON! IF YOU DON'T PICK ONE OUT, YOU WILL GET THE DEFAULT "SPAM" PI and nobody wants that...Each of the topic PI's are color coded for a slightly easier time of navigating threads. Most of them are self-explanatory. "Look!" is used for something that demands attention like this thread for example or possibly some artwork you want to display (in the Represent forum)
That just about covers all the important non-obvious stuff. Just take some time to look around if you're confused. If you're still stuck, just click on the little email icon under this post and ask me directly. If this is you're first time here and you plan on staying around for a while, do me a favor and reply to this thread with your opinions on the look, interface, content, whatever! Enjoy.[/b]

It looks reeeeeal nice. I'm glad to finally be free of those nasty ezboards.
That navbar at the top took a few seconds to load the first time, but it's all been smooth sailing since then.
Final grade:
A++++ (No, that last plus isn't liquor, it really exists!) |

Man... I hope people do enjoy all the old posts (in the correct order). If I have to do another copy & paste...
Anyways, there seems to be a few nagging 'bugs'. Hmm, what happened to the 'today/yesterday' date settings? Odd...
And as I already reminded Hybrid, Psydd's idea of a second skin for 56kers or flash haters or big header "I refuse to scroll that far down" bastards, will be coming in the near future. |

I'm keeping the skin with the gigantic flash image at the top, because I'm American and I like things as big as they can be!
Also, I enjoy the moving lights. |

Bah! Not sure why I bothered... but the today/yesterday mod wasn't working right. I looked at it, and the whole thing seemed like a broken hack. So I changed a few things... 1) I changed it so only the post dates on the index and viewform page will say today/yesterday since that makes more sense then every date saying it. 2) the mod assumed (wrongly) that the server timezone was set at GMT so I had to account for that difference. I'm not sure how to get the server offset (number of hours diff b/t gmt), so I did this hack job....
| Code: | $server_tz = substr(date("O"), 0, 3) . "." . substr(date("O"), 3, 2);
$date = getdate(time() - (3600 * $server_tz) + (3600 * $tz)); |
I'm sure you're all glad I just posted that...
I'll have to watch and see if it works. Especially around midnight eastern (11pm - 1am) and see if this fixes it. |

yeah sometimes when i cant figure out the problem, I'll just sick bone on it. Or if I'm too busy making pretty pictures to look through some code, sick bone on it. Or if I look through some code and somehow miss the most blatantly obviously solution in the world...
The fact remains, I know stuff, but not quite enough. |
