I died like 80 million times in the "virtuous mission." I really tried to not kill anyone but the CQC bullshit is so touchy that I just kept slicing their necks instead of throwing them to the ground. Eventually I decided to just tap circle to choke them instead. One of the bad guys shot a scientist when I was trying to get away and I bet the game blames ME for that. BAH!

I held up "the End" at gunpoint but I didn't get any awesome camo. In fact I havent gotten any bonus camo from bosses this whole game. I guess I really don't care enough at this point. I usually try to do everything perfect, but my early frustration with the game kind of blew that. I still try to not kill anyone though.

I have a 2 gig SD card for my wii and I REALLY wish I could load stuff directly off of it. Lame.

The way I play games these days (MGS or otherwise), I always start out super anal trying to be perfect, use as few resources as possible, explore everywhere, ect. But eventually I realize the game is just taking too long so I say fuck it, and I just burn through the rest of the game... The only difference between games is how long it takes me to 'give up'.

You know im often the same way. It's weird that with snake eater I went from being TOO careful, to not caring, and then back to being very careful towards the last third of the game. In general I try to be a completionist and always go for the little hidden something if I know it's there. If the risk isnt worth the payoff though, I will probably make an attempt or 2 and then give up. You know, I'm still missing like 4 trophies in melee.

I can't remember the last game I even 90% completed a game... Usually these days it's more around 60%, 2 months later. Sad

Ninja Gaiden 2 is pretty awesome. It makes me wish Team Ninja (sans Itagaki?) could work on a Wolverine game cuz them claws are nuts! The gameplay is faster and I'd say it feels better overall. I'm playing on "Warrior" which I assumed was normal and "Acolyte" was easy. It feels like I'm playing on the HARD setting from the first game. Regardless the enemies actually seem intelligent as opposed to just super cheap hard. Unfortunately the camera loves to zoom in all the time and that makes finding super fast ninja enemies a pain. But yeah, the enemies absolutely want you to die! You can cut off a guy's legs and one of his arms, and he'll still grab onto you with an exploding shuriken in his MOUTH. AAAHHHH!!

Did I mention the claws were awesome? Overall the main issue I have with the game is the camera, but it doesn't totally ruin things so I'll allow it.

I also started playing FF Tactics: War of the Lions on the PSP. I put off playing the original FF tactics for WAY too long so I decided to just play this instead. The story is definately better than FFT: Advance, but I may actually like the gba game better. It's tough because the DS sequel is coming out this month and I doubt I'll play it right away after beating this one. Anyways, it's great to once again have something to play in the morning when I open at work.

So who else is getting MGS4 at midnight? I've never actually done such a thing, but I figured what the hell... I'll sleep at work tomorrow to make up for it (who am I kidding...).

We didnt have a midnight launch at our store, much to the chagrin of a couple fat nerds. I picked the game up myself and if anyone remembers my comments on snake eater, I have NONE of the same complaints about this game. The controls are better than ever, most notably the aiming. The game also seems a little easier since there are a lot of times when the 2 warring sides are too busy to even deal with you.

"Enemy spotted, we request backup!"
"We can't spare any backup, deal with it yourselves!"

It's a satisfying thing to hear. Also collecting weapons that you already have for points is a pretty nice bonus since all I ever use is the tranq gun.

Oh and Raiden doesn't seem to suck anymore, but I think we already knew that from previous trailers.

I had to laugh the first time I heard that. Awesome, which so far this game is. Granted I have a little bit to go since I just finished chapter 2. I hadn't followed this game much so it's been a pleasant surprise how much 'fan service' there is trotting out all the characters from previous games. Well, all but one. I was disappointed a certain someone we all thought/hoped dead showed up at the beginning of act 2...

I had 25 kills at the end of chapter 1. I have no clue how since I only used a real gun during the firefight when you met up with the Rat Patrol, and I thought they said there was only 20 enemies coming total...

I had 30 kills at the end of chapter 1 and I too only used a gun against the rat patrol. It just sucks that I can't get that special gun because you're not supposed to kill any of them OR any of the bosses. At least this time after I beat the first real boss (with tranqs), he/she didnt explode like they all did in MGS3. Nice bonus too.

The Metal Gear dB on PSN is actually pretty cool. I like how they black out any MGS4 spoilers (since stupid me is still only at the beginning of chapter 3) until you actually beat MGS4. I didn't realize though that MGS Portal Ops was part of the MGS continuum. I thought all the portable games were their own thing. Dang. I'll have to see if youtube has any cutscene movies to get me up to speed since I'm not getting a PSP for one game...

On a side note, Firefox 3 is really nice, but for some odd reason it puts a nice break in the header of this page...

Yay! I finally beat Act 3. Not that it was hard or long (that's what she said!), in fact the 2nd BB was a lot easier than the first and the overall chapter seemed a lot shorter. I think the hour plus of cut scenes lasted longer... Still. Kick ass. Some cool and interesting scenes. Next up, chapter 4.

Yay! I beat the game last saturday and it FREAKIN ROCKED!! I won't post any spoilers, but let's just say..don't turn it off after it goes to the credits/voice actors or you might miss something interesting... Very Happy

If you own a PS3, you BEST to own the game.

DAMMIT! I so hate Vamp. Worst character in MGS (well unless you count Liquid's hand...). I know how to beat him (it's fairly obvious...), but it just doesn't let me grab the fucker! Either he stands up and I walk right through him or I 'whiff' at my attempt. And then stupid snake lays down when I want him to roll. Stupid thing...

But great game! Act 4 has been kinda cool...

Fucking Vamp made me go to gamefaqs. I had NO IDEA you could equip that stupid....thing. God I tried killing him like 80 times. I even tried getting his health and stamina down gradually until he had like a sliver of each left.

Act 4 is great because I could finally use some real guns seeing as how killing people is just not how you play MGS. The bonus blu ray says that the entire game has over 8 hours of cut scenes. That felt about right. I want to play through it again so I can get a consistent gameplay experience.

Ive been playing Eternal Sonata lately and I also picked up FF Tactics A2 which I play when I'm not home. I was actually playing Tactics on psp as my portable game of choice but I had to move onto A2. I never actually played the original so I felt I had to beat the psp remake before touching A2 but it was just getting frustrating. A2 also has a much better interface, spells that DONT slow the game down to a crawl, and a 2nd screen that really helps manage all those stats. Sure the story is nowhere near as good (so far at least) but its just more fun.

When I saw Vamp get back up I thought uh-oh... and then called Otacon who gave me the 'hint' that if only there was a way I could neutralize his nanomachines... That said...

Yay! I beat the game. I got the mark of a scorpion (and a few others). And now a few spoil filled points.

1) Is it me or was the first boss, the Octopus, the hardest boss (minus the annoyingness of Vamp)? At least for me her rolling around completly destroyed me.

2) I feel better now about the whole Liquid's arm thing taking over Ocelot. I sort of buy that explanation. But what I don't like now is the whole Big Boss thing at the end. I mean WTF? That didn't make much sense at all...

3) Acts 1 and 2 were quite different from 3-5 which were more like classic MGS. Which is fine (if not great, act 4 was complete fan service, I mean Rex vs. Ray? Awesome), but with how deep those first two chapters were gameplay wise it almost seems a waste there was only 2 chapters of it.

All in all a great game. Though I need to replay it to see where it really stands (I've played the others at least 3x each). Right now despite MGS3's annoying overuse of menus to do anything, I'm tempted to put it above MGS4. Well ok, maybe not.
