Actually True Fantasy got picked back up again.
I highly doubt half the people playing Halo 2 would get PSU. It's just a completely different market. Also the game will just plain sell better on PS2. As for servers, that would take dedication from Microsoft employees and I think Sega wants to run everything themselves. They did say that they've learned a lot over the past 5 years and should be able to implement better precautions this time around. Hell, if you just look at the GC version, you'll see the only REAL problem is duping items, which is a lot harder than it was on dreamcast (so I hear). Although episode III did have that terrible FSOD, you didn't lose anything when it happened to you.
I'd hype up Zelda some more now that I have the new EGM, but I think there's a thread for that... |

First, Microsoft ran (and published) the PSO servers for Xbox, yet they still charged extra for it (on top of having to have Live).
Second, since PSU will have server side saves and the offline game is separate from the online game, it will be harder to cheat. It won't be impossible, but it won't be like PSO.
Did you say the only real problem is duping? WTF? I call that a pretty damn big problem in of itself. Plus there was FSOD in PSO lobbies... and you did lose shit. |

Oh, I don't remember losing anything. I don't think it was possible in Ep. I&II. I'd say that compared to the horrible condition of the dreamcast servers, duping isnt anything to complain about. I'm not sure of the current state of the gc ones now, but I doubt people are "tearing shit up."
LETS HYPE GAMES!
Call me crazy (bone dont call me crazy) but with all the recent graphically impressive, major xbox releases like Doom 3, Jade Empire, and Splinter Cell; I havent wanted anything more than Atelier Iris. Since God of War, that is. The game combines sweet 2d visuals (they'd better be sweet on 128 bit hardware), zelda-like exploration, turn based battles, and item creation to make one pretty enticing package. Maybe it's the style or the way the battles look in motion, but it just looks really slick and I'll have to actually play this one when I buy it as opposed to Stella Deus which will stay shrink wrapped for months. |

Well, duping is no big deal in the sense it doesn't affect you if you don't want it to. Its not like some punk who think he's cool comes and kills you in a flash when a moment earlier he was half a map away... Though it does make getting a real rare less satisfying. But to each his own. If you can only have fun by being a cheat, so be it.
Anyways, I was looking at this month's EGM, theres a section on games for 2005 and the game it mainly profiles is some 50 cent game? Is this game really going to be that big? Well, wouldn't surprise me seeing how well GTA sells, then add a rappers name to it. Sigh... its things like this that make me sad. |

| Along the same lines of the way too big for its own good 50 cent preview, they don't give enough review space for a number of games that deserve it. I remember when the new gba kirby game came out, it was listed as a "baby game" but then the really short review said it was quite good. Make fun of kirby all you want, but he's a big franchise and deserves more space. This generation of games has been all about FPS and I think it's time other genres were explored more. Hell, even Game Informer had a review of Stella Deus while EGM did not. I think it's almost hypocritical that they can have an "under the radar" snippet with a game you probably didn't know about, but then their previews and reviews in general completely cater towards the mainstream audience. Though I will say their features and general articles are top notch. |

Continuing my insane quest for 2d games, 2 more games have sparked my interest. Both GBA no less! Now before you immediately hit the back button/backspace, let me just say that one of them is a shoot-em-up RPG and the other is a true sequel to Gunstar Heroes! Yes more treasure goodness from Treasure in a TRUE sequel. Anyone that played Astro Boy last year knows that game rocked and it paid some homage to Gunstar Heroes. I never owned the game on Genesis as I didn't even know it existed back then, but played it on an emulator and loved it. Here's hoping they don't screw up the sequel.
The shooter-rpg is published by namco and is basically a horizontal scrolling shooter, plus an on foot action rpg. It's like 2 games in one. Think of Blaster Master and how you got out of the tank to enter little levels, only with true space shooting and rpg leveling aspects. Sounds good to me! The name of it is Sigma Star Saga. SSS! |

| I'm very happy that they are making a new lunar game for the DS... at least I hope it's a new lunar game that's what I have read anyway. |

Although your hate-filled reply did make me laugh, why the fuck don't you care about a new gunstar heroes? Oh well, no gba i guess.
I wonder if they can compress little cinemas into the DS version of Lunar. They did it with Kingdom Hearts on GBA, why not this?
Oh, the new bomberman game on DS utilizes both screens for big playing areas. I sure hope certain people get it as it's probably the first great multiplayer opportunity for the DS. |

Hmm, more cases of game sites/publications "altering" their reviews to appease their advertisers? From the blog of a freelance writer for GameSpy...
| Quote: | | I’ve never done this before, and I probably shouldn’t be doing it now, but I want to take the opportunity to completely disown the GameSpy Donkey Konga 2 review in its published form. It grew an extra star and a half (or another 30% on the gamerankings scale) from its submitted version, along with several laudatory phrases that I ddn’t write and certainly don’t mean. I hated the game. It’s not a 3/5. |

Prince of Persia: Kindred Blades is due out this fall I suppose, and I just checked out all the e3 stuff ign had on it. Man, I am pumped for this. I loved Sands of Time and Warrior Within. Hell, I even have the Warrior Within cellphone game. If you're a fan at all I'd suggest you go watch their movies if you haven't yet. Prince has new abilities like a diagonal jump from a wall run and the option to sneak up behind an enemy and kill them quickly before they can alert others. Of course it's got the same combat engine as WW so you can just run up and kick ass if you want to.
Dammit, now I'm so excited about PoP I'm gonna have to play through the first two again. Luckily they're only 20 hours at most combined...I wonder if that'll be better taken care of in this third one... |

| They had one "playable" demo at E3 in this little area, but it was NOT playable for the public. This French guy played while you wore headphones and he described what was going on to you. I managed to see some of it, but I didn't really understand what was going on with 2 people standing in front of it. I will say though, seeing the trailer on a giant screen was pretty sweet. |

| I just actually read a few posts up and saw that Lunar Genesis was already mentioned for DS. Now that I own a DS (Which I am very please with, thanks Hybrid) I am greatly anticipating this game. The only Lunar I ever bought was Silver Star Story Complete on PlayStation (I never had a Sega-CD) and was and still is one of my favorite RPGs. I hope this new story is as light-hearted and serious at the same time ass the original was. And I would suppose this also means no more Nall! |
