That sounds like a pretty amazing set by Goldfinger. I finally picked up the new album last week along with some other stuff and I'm really liking it. "Get Up" is just so catchy that I wish I could see it live asap. Seeing as how I barely listened to Disconnection Notice more than 5 times, Hello Destiny kind of reminds me that John Feldman was never really good with lyrics. Still, the new album is great.

I also picked up the new Flogging Molly. I only listened to it once so far but it was pretty decent. I can't comment on that one too much yet.

I got 2 "new" Alkaline Trio cds that I didn't realize existed until the other day. Well actually I had heard about goddamnit being re-released. It's pretty much the same cd with clearer vocals and a couple bonus tracks. I also got "Remains" which will replace a cd I burnt 5 years ago with all of their B-sides and such. I've always felt these tracks were their best overall so this 22 track beast will be in my car for quite some time.

I just heard about the new LTJ so I'll have to pick it up next time.

Yeah, they played Get Up with the brass section and everything. It slayed.

Less Than Jake's new album sounds like the faster stuff from Anthem mixed with the brass presence of B&B. It's an awesome return to form.

I love the new Trio album but I guess the consensus is that it's not very good. Oh well. They cut back on the production nonsense of Crimson for the most part.

well the consensus about the last LTJ album was not very good but i still loved that. I didnt realize the trio had an actual new cd other than the goddamnit remake. I'll have to snag that with the new LTJ next time. Though the thought of more B&B isn't too appealing.

I didn't hate IWTOC. A Still Life Franchise, Let Her Go and P.S. Shock the World are still on my iPhone. And what I mean is imagine Short Fuse Burning from Anthem except without the muddy brass levels and instead the crisp production of B&B. Actually, Rock and Roll Pizzeria off Losing Streak might be more appropriate because a lot of the songs feature a studio trumpeter which is something LTJ have been sorely missing. There's just a lot of speedy double-time punk stuff and it's pretty rad.

The new Trio album sounds to me like a continuation of Maybe I'll Catch Fire. It's darker than their past few releases and not in that brooding and angsty way that made Crimson so awful. Ruin It joins Blue Carolina and I'm Dying Tomorrow atop the pantheon of amazing Dan songs.

Face it, A3 will never match the greatness that was Armageddon...

Wait, wait... what do you mean you're getting too old for the show scene? Do you mean specifically for these 'punk' rock shows? Bah! I'd mention the last show I saw but I'd just be made fun of.

And so for no reason, last one out of Liberty City burn it to the ground...

No one's going to make fun of you just because you saw the Naked Brothers band.

I'm Dying Tomorrow is one of my all time trio favs so it's good to hear Dan's got a sweet new track. Honestly I didn't see the thing last time I bought those 2 other trio cds so they must have been out.

My friend Megg is the biggest Trio fan I know so I took her to the show on Sunday. It was pretty great and she ended up scoring about 100 pictures + a few videos which I'll link once she's uploaded them to YouTube. Anyway, the setlist was incredible. Here's what I can remember them playing, in the order they were played.

Calling All Skeletons
Nose Over Tail
I Lied My Face Off
In Vain
Warbrain
Blue Carolina
I Found A Way
Goodbye Forever
Armageddon
Old School Reasons
Help Me
Crawl
Mercy Me
Private Eye
Bleeder
This Could Be Love

Encore:
For Your Lungs Only
Radio

I see Armageddon... nice. After all this Trio talk I tried to bring out my "old" CDs, all I could find was From Here to Infirmary, but oh well. It has at least 3 kick ass songs. At least.

And now I can at least say the last show I went to was... Hold Steady. Good stuff.

What to do next...

So I finally found Goddamnit, and I was disappointed/surprised when I realized two of my favorite Trio songs aren't on it, Goodbye Forever and Cooking Wine. A quick check of Wikipedia and sure enough. Huh, that would explain why the MP3s I have listed Alkaline Trio as the album name, I thought that was just a mistake... I also don't know how I have just these 2 random MP3s either then. That was a long time ago...

Oh yeah, because I'm hip, I get to see We Are Scientists this week. Yay.

So I saw We are Scientists. Pretty good. Not the greatest live show, but they do like to talk and I do like their stuff. Mixing their first and second CD really worked well since they are so different.

Oh yeah, I also saw She & Him. Damn good show, and if you don't know who they are, that's probably for the best... since for some reason I'm a big fan of the "she" part...

One of the guys on P-Boi got her number at some Cannes afterparty or something. Incidentally I want to now murder this man with my bare hands, skin him and wear his skin as a disguise.

You just knowing someone like that makes me want to murder you, to get me just one step closer to accomplishing my life goal...

On an unrelated note, Gaslight Anthem's The '59 Sound comes out this week. Must get. That means everyone. Looks like Trio, Gaslight, and Rise Against (and Thrice) November 17.... Must go.

Tomorrow going to the greatest fest west of the east coast... Milwaukee's Irish Fest.

it seems like everything I listen to these days is on side one dummy.

Also you people need to do more name dropping because I havent checked out too many new bands over the past few YEARS. This gaslight band sounds pretty good so far.
