What are you talking about Tork? When the fuck did I ever insinuate I had any color but purple?

Oh, this is just a rumor... but it does seem like Nintendo is going to focus on handhelds. To help with this cause they are going to show something big, a must have DS game... rumor is it will be Smash Bros. DS Online... You hear that Tork?

If Smash Bros online comes out on DS, so what, I've already bought ONE Nintendo system for one game and look what it got me!

And Bone, if I had a penny for every time you said "My GC is NOT purple, it's BLUE" I could retire and pay to get the pop-ups off of TorkBoard, and PAY people to actually post on it!

IGN

Quote:
May 12, 2005 - The Electronics Entertainment Expo 2005 is still days away, but that hasn't stopped Microsoft from debuting its Xbox 360 console on MTV. And now Nintendo has followed suit, revealing some new, meaty details about its next-generation console, codenamed Revolution.

In a recent New York Times article, Nintendo of America's vice president of corporate affairs Perrin Kaplan describes the console as "very, very sleek." The system, which is reportedly tiny, will stand horizontally. Its width will reportedly be no more than three DVD cases stacked flatly on each other, or slightly more than an inch. That makes the console theoretically smaller than Apple's recently released Mac Mini computer.
Although Nintendo has historically selected proprietary media formats, such as the GameCube Optical Disc, for its platforms, the publisher is with Revolution opting for a more standardized medium. The new console will play standard DVD media, according to the company. Nintendo has not yet revealed if Revolution will as a result be able to play Hollywood movies on DVD, but that seems very likely at this point.

At the Game Developers' Conference in March, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata said that Revolution would offer Wi-Fi online connections out of the box and would be backward compatible with GameCube, or able to play GCN software.

According to recent information, Revolution will also be able to play high-definition games and regularly go online.

Finally -- something of a no-brainer given the popularity of the Wave Bird pads -- Revolution's still-secret controller will be completely wireless. Controllers for Microsoft's Xbox 360 are also wireless. Upon hearing this news, puppies everywhere let out a collective cry.

More details to come at E3 2005. Stay tuned.

All good news if you ask me. I'm all for high def as well.

So is anyone gonna make any crazy predictions for E3? Any hopes and dreams for what is shown? Yeah me neither.

I will say these 'details' about the Rev are reassuring (that Nintendo isnt doing something totally stupid), but its gonna take more than that for me to care. I want to see what games they have planned. What types of games they have planned (new franchises?). What they are doing to expand their game library (so we dont have another system with 40 marios and 2 fighters). What they plan on doing to get 3rd parties interested in the Rev (not so much even exclusives, but no more of this Game X just for PS2/Xbox crap). What they have planned to make online an integral part of the Rev. Ect.

Whoops, I guess I just did what I said I wouldn't...

I JUST WANT TO PLAY A NEW SMASH BROS...and I don't mean a DS one, althought I would definately like to play that too. Honestly, I want to see the revolution, and i want to see what it can do. I'd love to see the controller too. PS3, I really don't need to know anything about it, though I'd like to see what it's capable of. I'll buy a PS3, but I dont need to know much right now. Xbox 360, I know enough already.

What I want to hear out of Sony is what is their answer to Xbox Live, and what the features of the system will be (Blueray? HDD? USB? Tivo? Yeah I dunno, Im just explaining what I mean.) I do NOT want to see a bunch of tech demos and pre-rendered crap. MS is getting heat over the graphics theyve shown, but at least its all real time stuff.

Seems Gamespot is reporting that the name of the new Zelda game is in fact:

Twilight Princess

Not sure what to make of it... at least its not the name of another instrument. But it just sounds akward, but that could be me.

Now onto see what Sonys been up to... So far all I've heard is the next GTA will be a PS3 exclusive and is set to be a launch game...

Few PS3 tidbits...

It will use Blueray
It will be backwards compatible with both PS1 and PS2 games.

From GS:

Quote:
"Sony also confirmed the PlayStation 3, will use Blu-Ray discs as its media format. The discs can hold up to six times as much data as current-generation DVDs. It will also supporrd CR-ROM, CDR+W, DVD, DVD-ROM, DVD-R, DVD+R. It also confirmed the machine would be backwards compatible all the way to the original PlayStation.

Sony also laid out the technical specs of the device. The PlayStation 3 will feature the much-vaunted Cell processor, which will run at 3.2 Ghz and feature 2.18 teraflops of performance. It will sport 256mb XDR main RAM at 3.2 Ghz, have 256MB of GDDR VRAM at 700mhz, a detachable 2.5 inch HDD slot, six usb 2.0 ports, Memory Stick Duo, a SD slot, a compact flash memory slot, Compact flash slot, 2 hdmi outputs, 1 av multi out, 1 SPDIF optical output, and 1-gigabit Ethernet built in port

The PlayStation 3 will also sport some hefty multimedia features, such as video chat, internet access, digital photo viewing, digital audio and video. Sony Computer Entertainment head Ken Kutaragi introduced it as a "Super computer for computer entertainment."

Dats a lotta ports. PS2 had a lot of ports at first but since they were never used some were taken out....

Quote:
PlayStation 3 (now confirmed as the official title, apparently) will feature dual HD outputs. The supplied controllers are wireless, as stated earlier and use Bluetooth as a connection. These last 24 hours on batteries. The PSP will be a major bonus for PS3 owners. You can have remote access to your PS3 from your PSP, and you can even use a Wi-Fi connection within PS3 to use your PSP as a controller for a PS3 game. PlayStation 3 also features a "built-in network cap".

Interesting...

Rumors are MGS4 and RE5 will be PS3 exclsuives... Uhoh...

Grr, MS didn't tell us anything really new tonight. Like say... price? And they didn't even mention PD0! If that's not there... then why should I care? If it's not at E3, is it delayed yet again? Gears of War looks cool, but.... I still really like a lot of what I see for X360 from the controller to Live, but I'm not feeling the games yet. Interesting to see Square on X360, though right now it being FF11 its like who cares. (Then again any Square game for me is who cares....)

PS3 seemed much more impressive, but a lot of details arn't know yet (since its release is a ways off yet). I'd like to know if it will come with a HDD (I'll be very disappointed if it doesnt since X360 will), and I still want to hear Sony's answer to Live.

Hopefully Nintendo can make this all a mute issue and realy impresse me tomorrow... or they can show us nothing and I'll not know what to think about the world anymore.

So far Nintendo has just talked about portable stuff: Online DS games (Mario Kart, Animal Crossing, Tony Hawk?). Nintendogs. Some DJ game I guess called Electroplankton?

They also announced a new GBA: The Game Boy Micro. Super tiny. Changable faceplates (sigh...). Backlit....

"Of course we have saved the best for last. Today, prepare to see Link as you've never seen him before." Zelda trailer plays. Lights are flashing in the audience to simulate lightning flashes in the trailer. And yes, Link turns into a wolf in the trailer. Crowd goes wild.

Yeah... just I've been trying to find SOMETHING else out about the Rev. They didn't show any footage what so ever, they didnt even mention any games except to say the obvious ones are in dev. No controller. And I'm left with a bad feeling Rev wont be able to compete graphically with X360/Ps3. I'm talking at least DC vs. Xbox difference.

Oh great, more Mario. Mario Party, some Mario soccer... but no Mario 128? Sigh... Nice to see what the Rev looks like, other than that... a huge disappointment. Right now I see nothing to get me excited about the Rev. No 3rd party stuff except FFCC2 for Rev? Bah! Some WiFi online thing they didnt really explain, even if Smash Bros will use it at launch? Bah! Both X360 and PS3 sound way more interesting.

I may be jumping the gun because Nin said so little, but right theres the problem! I really dont know if the controller/revolutionary feature (if there is one...) can turn the tide..... Sigh./ We'll see, but my expectations for this are very low right now.
