Here's a summary:
| Quote: | Good stuff:
- GB Micro. I'm highly unlikely to pick one up, don't really have the need for it, but that is a cool little bastard.
- New Mario Bros looked hot...maybe. I think it did, but it was a short clip and pretty small.
- Mario Kart DS online. We knew it was coming, but good.
- Revolution's design.
- Download service for older Nintendo games.
- Mario and Luigi 2.
- Sort of a Puppy Times mention?
- FF:CC Revolution announced, along with Mario, Zelda and Smash Bros (the last for launch).
- A lot of DS online support.
- Fucking awesome Zelda trailer.
- Battalion Wars looked fun.
- Mario Strikers too.
Bad stuff:
- No Metroid Dread.
- The Metroid Revolution demo...well, maybe. It was so short and my video skipped a bit of even that. Didn't seem a huge step beyond where we are though, even if clearly not this gen.
- Nintendogs? Electroplankton?! WTF shit! These games are out in Japan! Half the people there had already played them, and they've shown them plenty of times before. You have a Mario Bros, Mario and Luigi 2, Metroid Dread somehwere...and that's what they show?
- No specs.
- No other Revolution footage.
- Miyamoto and Aonuma barely making an appearance.
- No Kirby? Has it been moved to Revolution? Canned?
- You broke my heart Reggie! Mario 128 betrayal!
- No controller. Though expected. |
I forgot about Metroid 3. If that was Rev... Uhoh. If that was GC... why? For GC all I'm interested in is Zelda. |

DOA 4 on Xbox 360... I hope Tecmo pulls a Virtua Fighter with part 4 (then skips on the "RPG")
I think Sony REALLY needs to reconsider the PS3 controller redesign, the old standardized Dual Shock controller was a HUGE selling point for PS2 and against Dreamcast/N64/Xbox. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Here's the same (not-so) bold prediction that I've been making for over a year: Mario 128 is a Rev game, and if it shows up on Gamecube I will buy a Rev. I stand behind my predictions!
One thing I am genuinely interested in is this Rev "controller". What on Earth is it going to be? I'm at the edge of my seat over here... |

Did you see DOA4 on X360? Looks good... for an Xbox game. Seriously, it looks only slightly better than DOA:U.
I'm all for Sony tweaking their controller. I'd like to see analog triggers like GC/Xbox/DC had, a slightly more contour design to fit your hands, but other than that... what they did just seems, off. It could still change.
If Mario 128 is a GC game you'll get a Rev? Huh?
And You're going to be on the edge of your seat a long time Tork...
Also, as for Smash Bros Online for Rev launch, I watched that part of the Nin PC, and what he said was there would be wifi games for the Rev at launch (again with the wifi? why not just say online?), and he's pushing for one of them to be Smash Bros. Doesnt mean it will be just yet... |

Even though on paper PS3 sounds like one freakin amazing piece of hardware, right now the games being shown for X360 are quite tempting... and that's even without PDZ.
Of course Gears of War looks sweet. That Sega racing/destruction game Full Auto looks cool. And now with Virtua Figter for X360? Man...
Plus 1Up just posted that Silicon Knights is working with X360 to FINALLY bring us Too Human, and it's going to be a trilogy no less. Quite ambitious for a game 10+ years in the making to suddenlly become 3 games, but after a couple of cool SK games, I'd keep my eye on this... |

There has to be some type of penalty for being wrong with my prediction, so I'm putting my money where my mouth is.
Mark my words: Mario 128 will NOT show up on Gamecube. Why? Because I want Mario 128 on Gamecube and Nintendo does exactly the opposite of what GC owners want. |

It would make absolutely no sense to put Mario 128 on Gamecube with their new system coming out next year. It would also explain why a game that was pretty much announced BEFORE the cube's launch would still not be finished. Different people have worded the subject differently and confused everyone. Miyamoto said he may have given us the wrong impression on the title. It's for the Revolution. No speculation needed.
Online Smash Bros at launch is what's keeping me excited about the Revolution. Also that crazy downloadable backwards compatibility means I can finally aquire all the old games I desire IF they don't pull a Microsoft and make them only the popular titles of yore.
Seeing the PS3 controller in person, I can say it doesn't look as bad, but it's still awkward. Unfortunately they didn't let anyone touch it. |
