|
|
This will be either the greatest E3 ever... or the worst, because I wasn't there.
Dates to remember: (let me know if any are wrong)
Thursday May 12 @ 9:30pm Eastern: On MTV Microsoft will show off Xbox 360 (and Perfect Dark Zero!). Not really E3, but it's a big event, even for MS haters.
Monday May 16 @ 3pm Pacific: Sony will have their pre-E3 press conferance where, among other things, they will unveil the PlayStation 3. I hope.
Monday May 16 @ 6:45pm Pacific: MS will have their conferance.
Tuesday May 17 @ 9am Pacific: Nintendo will hold their E3 conferance, where I Really hope they show us information about The Revolution. I'm sure Zelda will be there too.
Wednesday May 18 - Friday May 20: The actuall E3 show.
For those with G4 they will do a E3 rap-up each day at 7-9pm Eastern (on Tuesday they will recap all the press conferances). On the net there are the usual sites: IGN, GameSpot, E3 Insider, GamerFeed/GameDaily (their boards in the past have been a solid place for summaray updates of the latest news), GAF is a great place but they are hammered so much during E3 its often been down in the past. e3.nintendo.com might be a place to watch (last year I think they broadcasted their conferance there). Can anyone think of any sites/places where those of us unable to attent can stay up with events?
Otherwise we (I) can use this thread for all our E3 musings and news. |

For those interested (no one) pics of the Xbox 360 have been leaked! Including the controller and cam. Supposedly it will come with a camera (so we can all watch little kids flip us off as we play Halo 3... but since/if its packed in it might get some cool uses for once), but not a HDD? Kinda lame. Set for launch this Novemeber, I just wonder how much it will cost... with a HDD since you gotta have one.
And oh, Perfect Dark Zero will be there... so tempting. I know many disagree, but besides maybe Re4, I'd take PD on N64 over anything else on GC... (ignore the outdated graphics! If you updated them to GC level...) |

It looks like they managed to make the d-pad even worse than before. Who knows, maybe it will be more responsive since you really can't tell how good a d-pad is until you use it. I also like how the X is placed since last time it was just a piece of paper under a lump of plastic.
I was actually going to make the E3 thread as I deemed it appropriate for...god who knows why. However, I'll use this thread to post all of my findings (unless it calls for its own thread that is). This will be the first year in a long time that I don't rush to my computer after/between classes to download videos that don't stream properly and constantly refresh e3.nintendo.com to find the best trailers. The one downside to going to E3 is I won't get to see the press conference until I get back. I assume it will be available for download when I get back as it usually stays up for a while.
Usually I check out gamespot, ign, e3.nintendo.com, gamerfeed...hell when I'm desperate I'll go to planetgamecube or anywhere that might have info first. IM GOING TO E3. |

Hmm... 2 types of Live, but it seems the free type doesnt allow playing games online so I don't get it... All just rumors from the MTV taping so far.

| Quote: | - PS3 development is running behind schedule, the cause is the disc medium.
- As a result, hardware will not be at E3, and software will only be shown as movies.
- Koei, From, Capcom, Konami, Namco, Sega etc are on board.
- Developer tools are somewhat of an improvement over 1st gen PS2's, but nowhere near as easy to use as 360's.
- Wireless LAN and HDD will be included.
- Revolution development is going well. There'll be playable titles at E3.
- 3rd parties include Konami, Namco, Sega, Square Enix etc.
- DS can be used as a controller and some software will make use of the touch panel.
- DS online service starts this year. FFCC and Animal Crossing will be ready for launch.
- Xbox360 dev tools are good in the eyes of developers.
- More than 50 titles will be announced at E3, including some that are only announced by title (i.e. no video / demo)
- Will be released in US and Japan this year. Europe and other regions will be next spring.
- Hardware comes in two flavours: one comes with a 60G HDD and includes B/C with current Xbox. Other one has no HDD and no B/C. HDD will also be sold separately so you can upgrade later.
- Price of HDD model $369, regular model $299.
- Xbox360 will be compatible with MSN Music, and a memory-based audio player that uses the memory unit slot will be sold by MS.
- Audio player will be $99 for 512 MB version. |
Disappointing news about the PS3... but playable Rev games? Nintendo outshows what Sony does? That would be a shocker...

Hmm, I did see where it said, "- Free Xbox Live weekends *", but I had no clue what that meant. Seems odd Live would be free on the weekends...
XBox 360 does look plain... but supposedly because MS plans on skinning to be a big thing with it and will sell a number of ways to 'trick out' your Xbox. Nice... in the most sarcastic voice I can muster.
I also have to remember to keep an eye on Quake 4. Not only am I a fan (not a huge fan, but a fan), but it's being co-developed with Raven Soft... Who as we all know is out of Madison, WI. The preview in CGW is encouraging since you can hold a flashlight AND a gun... (thats a joke, you know cause Quake 3 you couldnt yet the game was so damn dark, get it yet? Bah!) |

Oy, I think the design for the system is just bland and "Un" console like... I always thought that with the XBOX Microfost was trying to go with a more console look than with a pc look? Wasn't THAT the reason that you had to buy a DVD remote for $30 or was that a really, REALLY lame excuse to make more money? Hmmm, now it all makes sense!
Anyway, it just looks...really ugly, lol. |

| Well, with Xbox MS did everything they could to try and keep people from thinking it was a PC. Now that Xbox has made a name for itself, MS really doesn't have to worry about making the distinction anymore, and in fact I'd expect the line to be blurred a bit. Xbox 360 does have USB ports and the rumor is Xbox 360 controllers will be compatible with Longhorn (the next version of Windows). |

Sweet shit, where did they get that info that Rev titles would be playable? Is Nintendo's new thing to act like they havent changed and then pull an "xbox 360" and...no wait, that's just a turning back around to where you started...then how about a um..."1080 180" and...lie...
ANYWAYs I remember thinking the cube was hideous at first, but then its simple design really grew on me. I hate the concave nature of the 360, but it's color scheme is enticing at least.
WILL I BE PLAYING SMASH BROS AT E3 OH SWEET CHRIST MY BRAINS |

The thing about Rev games was in a thread about E3 RUMORS. Though the latest rumor is that Nintendo is going to focus on GBA/DS at E3 and all we'll get is a quick movie of Rev games, nothing on hardware. That would be very disappointing. We'll see soon enough...
The GC looked bad at first to me, grew on me tll I didnt hate it, but that didnt last long till I hated it again. And no its not because I got the purple one. The black looks just as bad. |

Damn Bone, you held out for damn near 4 years without admitting that your Gaycube was purple and now you've cracked! lol
Heh I was impressed with the "dolphin" but I got disappointed when i saw the final Gaycube, I should've ran with that feeling. XBox Live free weekends sounds like a cell phone carrier lol
Xbox isn't Sony, but it still garners respect in the casual gaming community, which is equivalent to third party love. Damn I want to play Midnight Club 3: Dub Edition. Too bad Rockstar's only GC game was Smuggler's Run. Faggots. |
