For those of us smart enough to not own a DS yet, there's a new design to pick from! It's no longer the Xbox of 'handhelds'. Discuss. http://ds.ign.com/articles/683/683684p1.html
Note: They still haven't fixed DS's biggest flaw (ie being based off 10 year old tech). |

Only those who want to hear the truth!
I did notice the DS has more of a 'Rev' feel now. The d-pad looks very similar to the one on Rev... How often do you play your DS online? |

| not very often. I played Mario Kart online a couple times and animal crossing online once with someone I know. As we all know, the only online game I really enjoy is... |

fucking traitor!
"I declare the DS Lite the winnarrr" *fruit loops*
That part was awesome. I'm eagerly anticipating his 3rd video to know how comfortable this thing is after extended play and how the buttons feel. The only thing about this upgrade that I don't like is how the gba game sticks out so I probably wont have a gba game in it at all times like I do with my current DS. That game is pretty much always Puzzle League/Dr. Mario.
As a DS owner for over a year, it's my duty to tell you just how much of this new design has changed:
1. Screen is BACKlit and not front lit so the picture doesn't have that slight blue tint to it and of course, the brightness can be set to DEATH which actually allows you to see games in natural light. A handheld first!
2. The edges around the screen kind of "lock" into each other when the system closes so loose dust and dirt (you slobs) in your pocket wont get in there. This always happens with me and Ive had a small chip/scratch on my top screen for a while that's really bothered me since I take amazing care of all my stuff.
3. The buttons no longer click like a cell phone and feel more squishy like a ps2 controller. The d-pad is smaller but I don't think it's gba small...The dpad clickiness kind of hurts after a while so this can only be a good thing.
4. The stylus is bigger. I always wished I could have a little more stylus to hold and this thing is a little longer and a little thicker. Good stuff.
5. IT"S SEXY. The current DS doesn't look that bad, but the DS Lite actually rivals the sexiness of the PSP. You won't be ashamed to play it at the Jiffy Lube next time!
6. Faster charge times, longer play time. I don't know how they did it, but even with the crazy brightness setting, you get MORE playtime than with the current DS. My battery never really ran out because I charged it every day that I use it, but this is just more convenience.
7. GBA games stick out a little . This isn't the end of the world, but I don't want something that JUTS in my pocket. I'll have to see how it feels. Maybe it won't be that big a deal.
8. Viewing angle is drastically improved. This is actually something they really needed to fix with the current DS. Since you have 2 projection screens, you can never really see both of them properly. If you're holding the thing in the same spot at all times, you're fine; but sometimes when playing a touch-only game, I want to put it down. This makes for some irritating loss of picture. Now it appears you can look at it from a 70 degree angle (if you're an idiot) and STILL see clearly! |

The DS lite makes the original DS look and feel like a worthless piece of garbage.
Hmm, might as well make this post useful with my experiences with the sexulicious DS Lite:
Looks: It's like comparing a BMW to those boxy Scions. That is to say, a mild improvement....cough.
Feel: It's like you're holding white carmellized sex and the new smoothness of the dpad lets you glide as if upon thousands of doves in the summer sky. The original DS felt like doing a rubix cube with your feet.
Stylus: It's like comparing Tommy Lee to Emelio Estevez. Longer, thicker, less painful to poke things. Ok that last part doesnt really go with the metaphor...
Screens: It's like finger painting under a 200 watt light bulb, compared to the original DS where you were writing your thesis under candle light.
Anyone that doesn't upgrade is mildly retarded, there I said it. |

What the fuck? Did something happen where the server was refreshed? Some of my most excellent posts are missing!!! AHHH!!!
Anyways...
Technically I didn't upgrade, does that make me, even though I have a DS Lite, "mildly retarded"? |
