I couldn't find an appropriate thread so I had to start a new one... d'oh.

It seems to no one's surprise PSU has been delayed until the fall. Grrr! I just don't get it. PS3 will probably be out in the fall yet now they decide to launch a big online game on PS2? Sure PS2 isn't dead, but if I were to guess, just about the type of person who'd be willing to get a PS3 (or 360) is about the type willing to pay to play PSU online for awhile... (ie PSU should of been a ps3 or 360 game... that said I plan to get the PC version:)

Gonna be hard to play along side Rev's (hopefully) online games this fall... I had hoped this game would bridge the gap between basically now and the next-gen. Damn you Sega! It better be worth the wait.

Damn, this was listed as May in our computers just this week. Zelda is listed as June...

Luckily this delay won't mean anything to the hardcore PSO fans that have been playing since the dreamcast days (freaks). I've been wanting to play this game more and more lately. I tend to get in the mood for some Phantasy action about once a year. There really isn't much coming out the first half of this year and an online game like PSU could really pick up that slack. Bah, this blows! Though if this means almost no cheating and NO FSOD then I should be happy.

We can hope... but we all know Sega has no clue what it's doing. If it did, PSU would of been for PS3 and maybe the Rev. ChuChu 2 would already be out on DS. And Super Monkey Ball 3 would a Rev launch game instead of them wasting their time with this shit:

Quote:
Talk about unexpected - the next instalment of Sega's spherical simian simulation will go by the name Monkey Ball Adventures and is being developed by Lego Star Wars creators Traveller's Tales.

It's story-based and not unlike a platform game in design. To wit: there are five themed worlds and different balls to discover, including a wooden one that lets AiAi, MeeMee and chums roll over water. There will also be sections where the monkeys get to fly over to new areas, just like the Monkey Target mini-game. Speaking of which, a bunch of party games and puzzles are being chucked in for good measure.

It's not too clear what formats it's heading for at the moment. We know it's on its way to PlayStation 2 and PSP though - the Official PlayStation 2 Magazine broke the story - and we reckon that GameCube is a reasonable bet. Sega support the system more than most publishers do and it's also where the series began, lest we forget.

So PSU is on 360, Monkey Ball is a Rev launch title... and now PSU:

Quote:
* For online play, the servers will handle most of the data processing. If any glitches are discovered, it will be easier to issue patches. If a client patch is needed for the Playstation 2, the patch will be downloaded to a memory card. The HDD is not supported. Online cheating will simply be impossible according to the developer.

Might as well put a giant target on your back after saying that...

Quote:
* Even when you are not online, time will continue to pass in the online world. For example, people will be able to visit your room and buy items from your Player Shop - if it has been setup.

Like what? A new t-shirt design? How gay... sorry, but it is. (GAF)

On a related note, does anyone still plan on getting this? (I do...) And if so, on what platform? (I plan on the PC one, which is on the same network as PS2, but not 360... grr)

I might pick it up for PS2... My PC is scetchy at times running games, and I'd feel alot better getting it on a console... and I'm too broke too afford a 360 as of yet.

I planned on upgrading my computer this summer for the sake of this game (and 3d modelling/rendering/level design) but I never did. I haven't really had problems in a long time, but I havent really pushed my computer too far all summer. HOPEFULLY there won't be any problems. I'd rather get it on my 360, but no pc or ps2 connection means no sale. Also paying for Live on top of the hunter's license is pretty bogus. I plan on getting PSU for PC and hope it will run properly. HOWEVER I have no intention of using the mouse. I will try using my usb psx/n64 adapter or maybe ill just blow $20 (less with my discount) on a logitech "dual shock."

In case I forget, please make sure I DONT make a human class. I ALWAYS make a human class so I can get all the benefits little by little. I love spells, but maybe I should just be a robot for obvious reasons...

You don't want to be an android, err humanoid (or whatever the hell they want to be called). I wonder how they'll balance things this time, but the thought of not being able to do simple things like heal whenever I want always kept me away from those things... except in Ep3 where it didn't matter.

I'll try PSU and see how it controls with a mouse. We all know FPS was made for a mouse, but not PSO. Though Diablo and Guild Wars controlled quite well with a mouse. So if the mouse fails I might get a 360 controller. Which I could then use also on a 360... should I ever get one.

I played the trial of blue burst with a mouse and I can easily say I prefer a controller. Sure it's nice to have 10+ hotkeys for spells, but I'd still rather use a controller.

No charge for online aspect of PSU on XBOX 360. There will be a monthly fee for PS2 and PC users.

Well if you were to pay for Live on a monthly basis, it would cost you $8 a month anyway...but everyone just does the year for 50.

I'll probably still get it on PC as the 360 version's servers are not linked.

PSU is one week away! So Hybrid, you still getting this? And if so, do you still plan on the PC version? I'd ask if anyone else was, but I'd be talking to the wall...

I know I still plan on getting this for PC. It should keep me busy for a few weeks at least, until PS3/Wii launches... and then after a week off for those systems, I can play more PSU (assuming it doesn't suck... it better not suck Sega).

After reading the story in EGM the androids sound kind of cool this time. So do the beast-like characters.... I need to figure out who to play as so as not to waste time next week...

Oh so I guess it's all set then huh. You have it all figured out... But who's gonna be the human man?

FYI, on DC I was a midget male force, and on GC I was a midget female ranger, but I was never a midget female force!!!
