Wow, I was shocked to see a $400 PS3. Until I learned you can't play Psone OR Pstwo games. That's just lame!

Oh well, I'll just continue to wait till MGS4 Very Happy

Not even via software emulation? Well that's lame. The biggest use my PS3 gets is Bluray, PSN games, and PS2 games... and of course streaming downloaded content from my PC, cough/

Sony PR is awesome:

"unlike microsoft we know that customers only want one SKU as it makes things less complicated."
-Sony releases 4th SKU for PS3 in less than a year.

"PS3 is the only system that is fully backwards compatible."
-"now that we have an amazily robust catalogue of games, theres no need to play old ones."

I won't touch the rumble issue. Too easy.

Ok, sorry. I was wrong. It WILL play Psone games, but not Ps2 games. The PS3 40GB seems more aimed at people who just want to play NEW games[aka those mainstreamers] and not deal with those 'ancient' ps2 graphics.

If you seriously don't own a PS2 by this point in 2007 I'm not sure what to tell you.

I don't own a working PS2....

And just to play devils advocate, I recall Nintendo once saying online gaming was a fad...

It's sort of a shame Sony has screwed this up so much. I like PS3, well right now mainly I like PSN since it has some sweet games. I have 6 PSN games, 2 on bluray....

The 1080p upscaling of PS2 games alone is a godsend when they previously looked HORRENDOUS. I mean I DO have an LCD which isnt very good for older games, but it's pretty apparent on other HD displays as well. I mean, Twilight Princess looked SO much better on my old tv.

Anyways, I have a severe lack of ports for my 1..2...7 video devices I hook up to it. 60 gig ps3 is your friend.

Maybe thats my problem, maybe I should try playing Wii on my old TV I just have sitting in my closet... it's amazing how much I actually use my PS3. Just I can't remember the last time I used it to play a bluray video game...

So this is is sorta on topic with the thread. Today the prices on the 80 gig PS3's dropped to $499. So now theres that, the discontinued 60 gig systems that Im sure every store still has because PS3's dont sell, and the upcoming 40 gig model. Oh and remember that 20 gig model? We havent had any of those since last Christmas so I doubt anyone does.
