| New developers for the cube | | | Tendobox came through with some interesting info for people (like me) that don't get Nintendo Power. You can check out the link here. | hybrid :: Tuesday, January 22 @ 12:10PM EST |
| New Baseball game from Sega | | | Here's the straight press release:
Sega® today announced that "Home Run KING(tm)" is coming to the Nintendo GameCube(tm) in March, so put down that bag of old, uneaten sunflower seeds you've been sitting on and get your game cleats out. This fully licensed, pick-up-and-play arcade winner guarantees that with a little practice and determination, you'll be "going yard" in no time. With the built in Create-A-Player option you can customize a player to look just like your best friend or use Create-A-Team to assemble a dream roster, made up of your favorite players of all time! Sega also introduces one of its newest cover stars--Jeff Bagwell. One of last season's leading run scorers and one of the most feared sluggers in the league, the first baseman of the Houston Astros graces the cover of "Home Run KING." Scheduled for a March 2002 release exclusively on Nintendo GameCube, "Home Run KING" will have you at the plate and swinging as soon as the last note of the national anthem is sung.

| Another Marvel Hero reborn | | | Just like Spiderman, Daredevil will be getting the movie/video game treatment. Encore, Inc. signed an agreement with Marvel Enterprises Inc. to publish action-adventure game starring the Daredevil that will release in conjunction with the Daredevil movie starring Ben Affleck. | hybrid :: Tuesday, January 15 @ 9:48PM EST |
| 1080 2 handed over, Left field out in...right field? | | | "With Left Field apparently out of the loop, Nintendo has chosen to pass the partially complete sequel to 1080º Snowboarding to another team (currently unknown). Apparently, Left Field's take on the franchise wasn't living up to the direction that Nintendo wants the game to go in. Perhaps it will ultimately fall under the supervision of the first game's creator, Giles Godard." Thanks to Planetgamecube.com for the info. It is rumored that after NBA Courtside's release, Left Field Studio's contract has gone up and it hasn't been renewed. They may be pitching game ideas to other publishers as you read this.. | hybrid :: Monday, January 14 @ 11:02PM EST |
| NBrid game of the year on GC? | | | Straight from Game Informer magazine: "Rockstar's amazing success with Grand Theft Auto III is going to the company's head. Ideas are already being dreamt up an even worked on for Grand Theft Auto IV as we speak. In the meantime, all you Gamecube owners can rest easy, as Rockstar is working on GTA III for you guys which should be out before this fall." This magazine isn't exactly a favorite of mine but this news does seem legit. | hybrid :: Friday, January 11 @ 9:51PM EST |
| First Quarter Plans and more delays | | | Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem and Star Fox Adventures: Dinosaur Planet were originally slated for February and March releases but Nintendo has confirmed that neither title will make it out before April at the earliest. This announcement is both surprising and annoying but those who are used to Rare shouldn't be too surprised about Starfox...even though I was :/. Anyhoo there will be roughly 20 games available for GC in the first quarter (comparing to N64's roughly 30 games in its entire first year). Some of the most interesting titles appear to be Spy Hunter, Bloody Roar: Primal Fury, and Smashing Drive. My suggestion is to get the best out of what you have now and rent a bunch of the less than stellar games in the beginning of the new year. Hey who DOESNT need 3 basketball games? | hybrid :: Tuesday, January 8 @ 6:45PM EST |
| Dragon's Lair on GC | | | Originally slated for this spring, Dragon's Lair 3D is now officially coming to GameCube and PS2 in fall 2002. It's being developed at Dragonstone, a company consisting of many members of the original Dragon's Lair development team. | hybrid :: Tuesday, January 8 @ 6:37PM EST |
| Another online game, and its not by Sega | | | According to N-Sider, Metro 3D is bringing Armada 2: Exodus to GameCube at the end of the Summer. The game will be a fully online, cooperative shooter with RPG elements and is also scheduled to appear on Xbox and PS2. It is not known whether it will play cross platform or not.

| Visual Concepts game revealed | | | Sega today announced "Soccer Slam" for GameCube. This is Sega's first unique non-traditional sports title for the GC. Combining elements of fantasy and sport, "Soccer Slam" is an entirely new breed of soccer that will supposedly "change your perception of the game." Scheduled for a Spring 2002 release, it will feature action-packed, off-the-wall soccer-meets-street fight gameplay that anyone who hates soccer sims can pick up and play. | hybrid :: Saturday, December 22 @ 12:05AM EST |
| Dynasty on GC? | | | Koei has revealed its first GameCube game. Battle Houshin appears to be an action game, starring the characters from Houshin Engi, a popular manga/anime. The gameplay seems a bit reminscient of Koei's Dynasty Warriors series. There is also a GBA version, which is an RPG, that can be linked with the GameCube game where you can trade data or download scenarios. This marks one of the few interesting games announced since GC's launch. | hybrid :: Friday, December 21 @ 11:59PM EST |
| 10 new developers | | | Nintendo has announced 10 new GameCube and Game Boy Advance developers from around the world. Check out the list here. | hybrid :: Wednesday, December 19 @ 10:14PM EST |
| Meowth makes friends? | | | Well I just got my 277th trophy in Melee. The fact that I got it after pressing B to go back to the "press start" screen, and then going back to the menu...well thats just downright weird. Maybe it had something to do with beating allstar mode with everyone...ANYHOO the meowth trophey had him holding a guitar and pretty much hinted at that little "Meowth's Party" demo from way back when being a real game. "This is Meowth's Dream, to invite all his friends over and he can strum his guitar and have this big musical fest" Bah I dont remember, but it was nice and corny. Please tell me that isnt a direct hint. I can honestly say I am not excited for the game, but the fact that it's in Melee is puzzling indeed. | hybrid :: Tuesday, December 18 @ 12:36AM EST |
| Enix it | | | Well for those of you that like rumors, apparently Enix is intrigued by the GBA/GC connection and will have some GC titles in the works really soon. DQVIII's platform is still unknown. Thanks to GC-Inside. | hybrid :: Tuesday, December 18 @ 12:22AM EST |
| Update on that Visual Concepts game.. | | | The ESRB has revealed a Sega game for Gamecube titled Line Drive Baseball. It's important to note that it's only listed for GC. Hmm an exclusive baseball game for GC made by Sega? I dont know about you but this has "secret Visual Concepts game" written all over it. And even if it isn't, at least there will now be TWO baseball games for the cube... | hybrid :: Tuesday, December 18 @ 12:14AM EST |
| 3rd party game thats NOT a port | | | IGNcube has learned that an original GameCube sports title is in development by studio Visual Concepts. The game is scheduled to release for GameCube during the first quarter of 2002. No details have been made available regarding the project, but sources have confirmed that it is being designed from the ground up to run exclusively on the GameCube platform. It is, for once, not a port. (Link to the left)

| Insert witty Bond reference here | | | Electronic Arts today officially announced that it would bring versions of James Bond 007 in Agent Under Fire to GameCube and Xbox. That's about it...get back to playing GameCube. | hybrid :: Thursday, December 13 @ 10:27PM EST |
| Capcom courts GC | | | The following is taken straight from Cloudchaser. I didn't see a need to change the quote so here it is. In the Biohazard preview in issue #104 of EDGE magazine, there's some interesting words regarding Capcom. "Rumours abound of Capcom's imminent desertion of Playstation in favour of GameCube. If it's true, hopefully the result will be more titles of this calibre... But confusion still reigns over Capcom's decision to switch allegiance. Will Capcom's PS2 development wind down? And will Nintendo demand exclusivity from Capcom to its platform? Although the sequel to DMC and Onimusha are still going ahead on Sony's hardware, it seems likely that the movement across to GameCube will become more pronounced in 2002. Also, Shinji Mikami who is fast becoming the public face of Capcom does not believe that the PS2's dominance in the short term will last, underlining the fact that most of his previous projects - including DMC and Resident Evil: Code Veronica were opposed by his bosses." | hybrid :: Monday, December 10 @ 11:22PM EST |
| What's in the news lately? | | | Well it's the holiday season and most of the gaming news is, believe it or not, centered around actually PLAYING games. So to sum up the past week: new screenshots of Resident Evil, a bunch of new confirmed games that won't be interesting until we actually see some screens, Konami is making more sports games for GC but still none of the likes of MGS2 or Silent Hill. Speaking of Gamecube...Nintendo plans to release about 10 games of their own in the 2002 year. What do we already know? Starfox, Kobe Bryant 02, Mario Sunshine, 100 Marios, Marionette, Celda, Metroid, Perfect Dark Zero, Animal Forest Plus, and Animal Leader...Damn thats 10 right there (I dont know if they'll bring Doshin the Giant over here). Well Im not sure if they are counting 2nd party efforts in that statement because that would be pathetic (and the rumored Kid Icarus game would be just a rumor). | hybrid :: Saturday, December 1 @ 10:47PM EST |
| Finally some interesting rumors | | | Courtesy of EGM...The "Q" confirms that Treasure is working on a top-secret GC game. It's definately not a port of their new arcade shooter "Ikaruga" though. Personally I'd love to have at least one classic shooter in my GC arsenal, ESPECIALLY one made by Treasure. Also, rumor has it that a new Kid Icarus game is in the works and could even be ready for next year! With this, Mario, Zelda, Perfect Dark Zero, and Metroid under Nintendo's belt for 2002, we should be getting the stellar titles we all wanted for launch. | hybrid :: Monday, November 26 @ 11:07PM EST |
| GC "relaunches" with a smash | | | Today in Japan, Smash Brothers DX (Melee in America) was released with the 2 other GC colors, jet black and spicy orange. Many people that bought the game also bought a new color GC with 3 controllers. One can assume that many cubists waited for Smash Brothers to buy this new console, thus proving it is this year's killer ap of the system. Famitsu gave the game a platinum award because of the variety of gameplay and comon, it's Smash Brothers. So expect to see a lot of media on sites all over and don't expect much out of me on the game as I anticipate the release on our shores in 2 weeks. | hybrid :: Wednesday, November 21 @ 10:24PM EST |
| More smashing on the cube... | | | Namco announced today that it will publish the arcade port of Smashing Drive and it should be released around early 2002. The title will feature all of the levels and vehicles from the original title plus a new two-player head-to-head competition mode. Those of you that never played this game in the arcades, basically it's like crazy taxi but nothing like it. You race towards a goal like you would in a timed race, only you have a ton of powerups and you have to manuever around traffic. I had a blast playing the first level in my pathetic arcade/billiards. The port doesn't look very good right now but the graphics were always simple and it will hopefully look better than the arcade port, which seems like it could run on Dreamcast easily. | hybrid :: Tuesday, November 20 @ 11:51PM EST |
| Improve your memory! | | | Yes I got my Gamecube at midnight last night and yes I was reading the system manual before I went to bed around 4:30 AM. I read about transferring files between memory cards and came upon something about the maximum number of blocks that can be used. Apparently Nintendo will make a Memory Card 127 for GC. That explains the current card being only 59. The manual says copying cannot take place if the maximum of 127 blocks are already filled. So now you should be able to save a lot more obviously. What I want to know is when they're going to release that SD card for flash cards, which can expand memory up to about 64 Mb. For now 59 is good enough, unless you are getting Madden... | hybrid :: Sunday, November 18 @ 6:52PM EST |
| Well it's about here | | | Yep GC is finally coming. By the time you read this, I will be long dead and you probably stumbled upon this looking for one of those 21st century webpages...well I'd just like to say that since GC is coming out this weekend, the only real news is games coming out and other sites reviewing them. So look to the left at our links and check out some reviews or up to date release dates. Me? I will be getting GC at midnight and you can expect a little something the next day at the site. | hybrid :: Saturday, November 17 @ 12:59AM EST |
| Perfect Gaming | | | According to the boys at RareNet, Perfect Dark Zero is under development, and apparently has been for some time now. It will feature online play apparently and some other innovative features. Hopefully by then Nintendo will act on their SD digicards and allow people to take pictures with digital cameras and do that face mapping..or hell how about Gameboy camera advance? Either way, it should bout out in late 2002 but this is Rare so expect it sometime before Armageddon. | hybrid :: Wednesday, November 14 @ 10:38PM EST |
| GC ships | | | Nintendo has started shipping GameCubes. Nintendo has told Planet Gamecube that stores are free to sell the GameCube as soon as it arrives, in order to get a jump on the X-Box launching on Thursday. They also said that no store would be fined for breaking the release date. However when I called GameStop, the guy kept saying "we will be selling the GameCube on the 18th," obviously not knowing much about anything but what his manager tells him. PGC did have some proof or something but it looks like I'll be waiting until the 18th. Hell they didn't even tell me when Rogue Leader came out.. | hybrid :: Monday, November 12 @ 3:14PM EST |
| Madden Info | | | Well Madden 2002 for GC has his store shelves. People have been wondering if it would support a full franchise mode with such small capacity memory cards. Here is the rundown on saving... -All Game Modes: 59 blocks -Rosters: 40 blocks -User Profile: 3 blocks -Settings: 2 blocks -Create a Team: 1 block So basically you can do it all but if you only buy 1st party (which you should) then you will need to use 2 memory cards at once.

| Bond declares IGN lame | | | Insiders close to Electronic Arts have indicated that the giant publisher is in the development stages for a GameCube port of the PS2 3D shooter James Bond in Agent Under Fire. The game is being planned for release in February 2002 for Nintendo's next-generation console, according to sources. This news is from igncube...a site that now charges people to read a simple Rogue Leader review. Imagine that... | hybrid :: Thursday, November 8 @ 10:38PM EST |
| New Capcom game "revealed"? | | | Capcom mastermind Shinji Mikami has been working on a top secret GameCube project since September. The game is an action-adventure title. It's called CAS Ra. Work on the title is said to be coming along quite well. Now what the hell does this tell us? Well it's a new franchise is all we know. | hybrid :: Monday, November 5 @ 9:59PM EST |
| No Q | | | The DVD player/Gamecube hybrid won't be coming to America for the time being. "It's simply a Japan device...Right now there are absolutely no plans for U.S. marketing," said Kurt Praschak, a Panasonic spokesman. The Q will launch in Japan on December 14th.
| hybrid :: Friday, November 2 @ 11:16PM EST |
| Capcom develops GC controller? | | | Capcom is currently developing a special GameCube "Combat Pad" which will be packed-in with a forthcoming fighting game. Obviously they thought the small D-Pad and button layout on the standard pad wouldn't be suitable for what they have planned. If anyone remembers Miyamoto saying something about this last year at Spaceworld, I guess he knew what he was talking about. The game will most likely be a new Street Fighter and not just another port. | hybrid :: Friday, November 2 @ 3:50PM EST |
