"Nintendo has been in business for 115 years, 25 of those in the videogame business. In that time, we've sold two hundred and fifty million pieces of hardware and a billion and a half pieces of software. Anybody who thinks we're about to quit doing that anytime soon is really not paying attention. We're working the plan as we deem best and what we see as being best this year is focusing on our existing business: Game Boy and N64. Everyone will know what to expect from us after Space World in August, when details of both GBA and Dolphin are revealed. Trust us, we are not going away anytime soon!"    -Peter Main, Nintendo Co. Ltd.'s president
I'm sick of hearing how Sony is going to conquer the world with PlayStation2. A few people may view it as their personal Lord and savior, but in my estimation it's an ugly, weak, jaggy system that will sell because people desperately need to be part of "what's hip." You heard me. Clever advertising and peer pressure will drive the PS2 into homes across America... Sony wouldn't know the true magic of gaming if it stood up and announced itself in highway-worker orange holding two road flares and a neon sign, because the people at Sony are probably too busy thinking up PlayStation10 marketing slogans to actually play videogames.    -Carl Johnson, dailyradar.com
I do not think very highly of PlayStation 2. There have been many problems with it. With Dolphin and X-Box, however, there is a possibility. Who knows? If I did decide to do something outside of Dreamcast, I would be inclined to go in that direction...    -Yuji Naku, Sonic Team
What I would be excited about, however, is Dolphin. I don't care what Nintendo calls it; I don't care how much it costs. I will spend whatever it takes to play the next Mario or Zelda game. But I can't... -Frank O'Connor, an editor at dailyradar.com
What has always been true, though, is Nintendo makes some of the best-selling, most innovative games on the planet. That will never change... -Fran Mirabella III, Dolphin Cove
I don't think there will be enough room (for four video game consoles in the market). That is why we believe that the battle will be fought between Sega, Sony, and Microsoft. While Nintendo is going to do something really different from them.  -Shigeru Miyamoto
Naturally people are asking; 'What's happening with the Dolphin,' and 'What are it's real specifications.' If I tell you what we're planning for it, our competitors might steal our ideas. -Mr. Iwata, Director of HAL's internal R&D division
"The name (Star Cube) will tell you what the machine looks like and what it does?" Okay, we can assume that the machine will look like a cube. But how will "Star Cube" describe what it does? We already know what the Dolphin will do -- it'll play kick-ass games. -Daily Radar
Well, I don't feel the slightest threat from the PlayStation 2, and very frankly speaking, I am not too concerned about the existence of the PS2 at all, because we have created the Gamecube hardware and will create the software that will become the requisite for everyone even though they already have the PS2. -Shigeru Miyamoto
Mario is a really good guy. He's not 'just a nice guy' though - he works hard. He sweats his guts out for his family and his girlfriend. He exercises every day because he has to play the starring role every time a new Nintendo console is released. Right now, he seems to be making preparations for the new Dolphin. Oh, you will see a new side to him on the Dolphin. -Shigeru Miyamoto
Don't you think Mario and Luigi have been too cutesy lately? I want them to act a little more like adults. So you will see a matured Mario. As for his brother [Luigi], he now has a cool attitude about things. He believes he doesn't need to play a main roll. He's a second-born son and he knows how to take a break, just like me. I'm a second-born son too.-Shigeru Miyamoto
Nintendo has an opportunity with the GAMECUBE to correct many mistakes they made with the Nintendo 64.  (Sony, Sega, Microsoft) tend to think of Nintendo as a game platform for children, and that could be dangerous. -David Cole, president of DFC Intelligence
Nintendo made a very interesting analogy between game systems and cars. Nintendo said while their competitors are focused on making “minivans,” Nintendo is focused on a game system that is comparable to a “Ferrari.”  Of course, car buffs generally prefer Ferraris, but minivans sell in much greater numbers. -DFC Intelligence
In my mind, I'd always envisioned what a game like Zelda could look like, and with the N64, I was able to create it. Now, with the Gekko processor, I can see an opportunity to take game designs to a new level. -Shigeru Miyamoto
