Gran Turismo 3
One of the best games on PSX, and quite possibly the best racer ever, was Gran Turismo. So now comes time for Sony to bring one of its best franchises to the next-gen. Welcome Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec (PS2)! Is this game worthy of the next generation of games? Or is it just a rehash? klamkilla reviews...

launch Details..and other stuff
The Japanese launch will consist of 500,000 units, all purple. Other colors will be available later so the US may still get other colors at launch. Nintendo will ship 900,000 total units in Japan by the end of 2001. The North American launch will have 1.1 million units available. They plans to ship a total of four million GameCubes worldwide by March 2002.
In other news, "Rune" seems to be different than the PS2 game of same name and the developer is From Software. Rune seems to be a traditional RPG. And Lucasarts is working on an Episode II game for GameCube right now.

There's always something new with Melee..
I was going to just tell you everything I learned today, but there is so much that will be disregarded by many that I will just like you to it at the end. There should be about 18 stages to select from, but there could end up being even more secret ones..The link also includes info on items such as the Mushroom, superscope, food, and some spinny bar thing..oh and the beam sword changes size depending ont the situation? Just click the link and read..if you want to. It's pretty interesting stuff. Thanks to PlanetGameCube.

Worms World Party
Yes it does include worms, but is it really a party? Trusty NBrid reviewer klamkilla takes a look into Worms World Party (DC), one of the few DC games that actually came out with online abilities still intact. So is this game as addicting as other Worm titles? Or should it be buried with the earthworms...

Some tidbits
Well today was a pretty good day for GC news. Aside for the Spaceworld info, there was a little more to learn. The GC controller is finally 100% finished. The c stick button has been made slightly thicker and easier to grip. The whole controller is apparently made of a harder plastic and feels a little rubbery and easy to grip. The L and R triggers are the only analog buttons. It will retail for $20.
Next is about Melee. You can find a screen of the Superscope that is used in the game at PlanetGamecube. Also there is a mushroom item that I'm sure we all know will do to you..Check out my Smash Bros 2 preview in the Clash section and you will see all my plans falling into place..
Finally Rogue Leader now looks even better than before. Shadows form under every object in the game..perfectly..Hell they even change depending on the locations of clouds in the sky..Well that's about it for now..OH and Metroid Prime gameplay will finally be shown at Spaceworld but not playable. The release date is currently around Q3 2002.

Spaceworld GC games
The current list of GameCube games to be shown and playable at this year's Spaceworld are: FIFA 2002 Road to the World Cup, SSX Tricky, Virtua Striker 3, Phantasy Star Online V. 2.0, Super Monkey Ball, Smash Bros. Melee, Luigi's Mansion, Pikmin, Waverace: Blue Storm, Animal Forest Plus, Star Fox Adventure, Doubutsu Bancho (Animal Leader), Eternal Darkness: Manukareta 13-nin, Bomberman Generations, and Rune. Of course more games will be added to this list as Spaceworld approaches. Oh and the list of GBA games is HUGE so far. Too bad this is the GC section :)

Activision working on 10
Yeah, Activision is working on 10 games for GC...14 for Xbox though. But we all know Nintendo was a tad bit late in releasing the damned dev kits.. Anyhoo, 10 games for next year, nothing in this 2 month period. If you don't know what games are coming out, you're at the wrong site..Obviously this means Tony Hawk 3 and Spiderman the Movie..Bah this news isn't so exciting.

Chat Brawl: 2nd edition
Be in the new official NBrid chat room: irc.enterthegame.com, port 6667, #nbrid, late Saturday the 28th (around 12 central time, or come earlier to chat). Why you ask? Why it's nothing other than the 2nd edition of the latest craze. CHAT BRAWL (name TBA). Go to the boards and post what you want the argument to be and Hybrid and klamkilla will take sides and argue about it. This week was about Retro Studios but it turned out they both agreed Retro sucks. Also be there for the play by play with ConnDestn and DarkWadeX. The highlights will be posted in the Chat section soon after.

Raven Blade No more
NOOO, it seems Retro Studios has just canned Raven Blade to move all programmers onto the Metroid project. Well maybe I should say NINTENDO laid off 26 artists and designers of the team and canned the game. However, this thing has been having problems since the beginning. Sure the art was cool, but the fighting engine was never finished. Now this should have been done easily in the beginning of development. But it really is sad that such an interesting RPG for GameCube is now gone. This "Metroid" I keep hearing about better be sweet.

Dreamcast and PSO v.2
Sega announced that when PSO v.2 comes out Sept. 11 that it will cost $15 for 3 months to play online. Cheaper than most MMORPGs, but then again PSO isn't a MMORPG... IGN has posted that there is only about 700,000 DC units left in stock. Which might be a good thing since Sega has said it has lost over 160 billion yen on hardware.

Not much going on today
I figured I should update because I haven't added news in a few days. As if you cared, there will be a Smash Brothers Melee tournament at Spaceworld this year to demonstrate its 64 man tournament capabilities. Also on the unimportant list is the fact that NCL has started their advertising campaign for GCN by showing game footage in movie theatres. Check back for news that may actually be important.

Sega Love
First up, Amusement has another GC game in development for GC besides Monkey Ball and Virtual Striker 3. This is probably Planet Harriers or Spikeout. Next up is recent rumors surrounding Sega helping Nintendo out with their online infrastructure and an announcement about a joint Nintendo/Sega product should be announced at Spaceworld. Finally on a little side note, Sony and Square praised Nintendo in recent interviews...but Sony doesn't seem too keen on Xbox right now.. Remember that you can always find info like this in our links section.

Memory...
Panasonic has announced that the price of their SD cards have dropped. These cards can be inserted into the GC memory card (which doesn't hold too much space alone) to expand it as far as 64 meg. In the future, cards will even expand towards 4 gig of space! The 64 meg card essentially has the same potential the 64DD had, and this card is now only $100. However, a more logical solution for gamers would be the 8 meg card, but a price is not yet known. A 16 meg card now retails for $40, only $5 more than the suggested retail price for an 8 meg PS2 memory card.

More EA info
EA has given Igncube more info on another one of their titles. NBA Street on GC will launch in Spring 2002, but it will not be a direct port of the PS2 version. It will still play the same but the GC version will include new courts, new players, and other extras not seen in the currently released PS2 version. Oh and the graphics will also be revamped.

Madden changes on GCN
IGNCube has posted some more info on Madden on Gamecube. Basically the visuals will be ravamped but the franchise mode will lose a little bit because of the size of the GC memory card. However, they are exploring the SD digicard opportunities that greatly expand memory. Either way, the game won't be much different features wise.

New Melee characters?
Not quite, someone tried to prove that Sonic, Joanna Dark, the BattleToads, Pit..and some others that escape me now..are indeed playable in Smash Brothers Melee. I only got to see the picture with Sonic b4 it was taken down. It was quite obvious the little head was taken from SA2 but this person did a great job. However, I have learned more info about Melee by just cruising user sites. This one guy went into detail about items and attack strategies. Apparently there are now 4 special moves, the new one being ->B. An example would be Link's bow and arrow or Kirby's hammer. Also, the super scope being an item, can be charged and has tons of ammo..in case you were wondering how it worked. Oh and Mr Saturn from Earthbound is also an item..right now all I know is that he sometimes pushes other items off cliffs. I could go into more detail about how you can grab punches and pull off pseudo counter moves and new combos but I'm sure you already know that. I have some suspicions on secret characters but right now Im only POSITIVE that Luigi and Jigglypuff are coming back. And if you think Zelda and Sheik are different characters..think again.

Ape Escape
Everyone knows that Rare is the master of collection based platformers. So why should you bother to play Ape Escape (PSX)? With its unique control scheme and addicting gameplay, this game has a lot going for it. This game shows that yes, Sony can make great games when they want to. And oh yeah, its got monkeys.

We have many big Simpsons fans here in NBrid, klamkilla being one of the biggest (but his claim of Simpson Trivia Champ is debatable). So of course he had to check out Simpsons Wrestling (PSX). What the hell is Marionette?
Ever since a recent interview at Tendobox where they found Mario-Net.net to be an actual domain. This could be for something else but it appears to be the most logical explanation that Marionette is either the online network for GC or an online game. Seeing as how Mario Party 4 has already been confirmed, God (and Nintendo) only knows what Marionette could be like. Also to note: Mario Sunshine is something that "makes Mario happy and gamers happy as well."

Square and Nintendo?
Well you've probably heard by now that FFXI will be multi platform including consoleS besides PS2. What does this mean? Well read it as you will but this most likely means Square is developing for GCN. I think Square is in negotiations with Nintendo right now, and thankfully Yamauchi is retiring soon so things should be a little different. More as it develops..
