NBrid Submissions
There are two main ways to send in your article to be published on this
site: Forms and Email. Forms are pretty self explanatory. Email should
be in the form of an attachment whether it be a simple Notepad text file,
Word document, or HTML page (so you can format it). If you choose the
email route and are planning to send in a review, we suggest you look
at the Review Form to see the setup and rating system we use for reviews.
Thank you!
Email: webmaster@thissite.net
Form: Review
Form: Editorial, Story, ect.
Submission Guidelines
Many of these are for specific cases and no not apply to general submissions.
- Article Editing
- Proof-read all submissions BEFORE you send them in.
- We will spell check and fix a few minor grammatical errors to
make the article more 'presentable' if necessary. It will also be
formatted to fit the HTML layout of the site.
- However, we will not add html codes to the actual article. If
you want something in bold or as a link for example, either specifically
say so or write up the article in html.
- If an article is too messy or has too many grammatical errors
it will be sent back to the author for revision. This is at OUR
discretion. We're not being picky (we don't care about things like
ending sentences in a preposition:), we're just looking for basic
grammar usage here so it looks presentable on the site and is readable.
- A few simple things to watch out for: Capitalization to start
a sentence and for proper nouns, spacing between words, sentences
that never end just separated by comma after comma, comma usage
to separate and/or/but's, spelling of proper names, separate paragraphs.
- If there are major factual errors in your article, it will be
sent back.
- Article Censoring
- We will NEVER censor someone's opinion.
- Use common sense when writing your articles. The main focus should
be on the topic at hand, NOT seeing how many expletives you can
use. Remember this is a videogame website, NOT Playboy. That said
feel free to express yourself as you feel you need.
- We will NOT edit anything without talking to the author. If we
deem an article too offensive and not appropriate for the site,
it will be sent back.
- One way in which 'offensive' material is appropriate for our website
is if it is part of a game, and in order to talk about the game
or review it, you need to reference it.
- Swearing: Use only if absolutely necessary and even then only
sparingly. Extensive "cuss masking" is no better then
saying them explicitly. Mild cuss words (like 'damn') are no problem
at all, strong language will be dealt with case-by-case. Extreme
vulgar has no place on a videogame website.
- Offensive Terms: Calling something 'gay' or 'retarded' (for example)
is not acceptable. Use a more intelligent wording.
- Sexual Innuendo: Use sparingly. Explicit sexual references or
depictions are not appropriate for a videogame website.
- Racial Slurs: Will not be tolerated at all.
- Drug Usage: Avoid this topic. Will be dealt with on a case-by-case
manner.
- Pirating: Any discussion of 'how to pirate games' is forbidden.
Reviews based off of pirated versions of a game will not be published.
These types of articles will just be erased. Other pirating related
topics (ex: "how pirating increases game prices") will
be dealt with case-by-case.
- Any article above a PG-13 level and is to be published on the
site, will be prefaced with a warning (ex: Warning Explicit Content:
Not intended to be read by children under the age of 18.)
- Article Publishing
- It is at our discretion how to post a submission on the site in
the news. Most will receive a headline on the home page, but listing
it just as part of "Recent News' is also a possibility depending
on a number of factors (quality/length of article, relevance, ect).
- Once posted in the news, it will also be listed in the relevant
section of the site (reviews, articles - editorials, fan fiction,
columns, ect).
- If you do not provide a topic for your article, we will make one
up and you're stuck with what we give it. Therefore we suggest you
always add one:)
- If there are any special instructions or information about an
article you think we should know, please state them at the beginning
or end of the article prefaced by "Note to the Editor".
- Timeframe of Publication of Article
- We will make an effort to get the article up as soon as we can,
but we make NO promise of any specific timeframe in which that will
happen. Articles will usually be put up in a FIFO (first in first
out) manner.
- Exception 1: If an article is 'urgent' in that its subject matter
is relevant in a certain timeframe or before a certain date, it
will be given preference and move up in the publication que.
- Exception 2: If articles are not in any way 'urgent' but we get
many of the same type or from the same person they may be spread
out more.
- Exception 3: If an author specifically talks with a webmaster
or editor that they would like the article up on a certain date
or by a certain date. Note that you need to do this at least ONE
FULL WEEK before the date you would like it up or else you can not
take this exception.
- Sending via Email
- Unless you have other arrangements with us (like for those on
a Dreamcast or WebTV), all submissions via email should be in the
form of an attachment. (Examples: Word doc, Notepad txt, html attachment.)
Submissions right in the body of the email will be sent back.
- HTML submissions: You can use html to format such things as lists,
bold/italics, colors, spacing, links, ect. You should not format
things like the text font (unless for a specific part of an article)
since those are part of this website's layout (template). We have
the last word on what html to keep and what to drop or change to
fit the feel of this site.
- Reviews via email are expected to take the same format as seen
on the Review Form. If it doesn't it may be sent back.
- Review Submissions
- We have developed a format all reviews should take, and so we
expect all reviews to follow this. See the review form to see what
it is.
- Review ratings that do not follow the current format will be converted
to the current scale and rounded down if nessasary.
- More then one review of the same game is allowed.
- Columns
- All column related issues will be dealt with "in person"
with the appropriate party (or parties).
- Article/Review Length
- All submissions will be required to have the minimum length of
350 words and at least 3 paragraphs. If it is shorter it will be
sent back.
- Copyrights
- All submissions to NBrid become property of NBrid in that you
are giving us the permission to publish it and do with it as we
see fit.
- You still own your copyright to the material and will always be
credited as the original author.
- All works submitted should be your own original creation.
- If you quote someone or get factual information from another source,
specifically state who said it and where you obtained it from (like
a link).
- Guidelines
- By sending in a submission you have agreed to these guidelines.
- At our discretion if there are any problems with the article (going
against any of these guidelines or for any other reason), it will
be sent back with an explanation as to how you can fix it up and
resubmit it for publication.
- These guideline may change at any time.
