<Hybrid> even though i dont think xbox will do better than gc in japan from the start, if it does, i really dont see developers deserting gc over the somewhat success of xbox's first month or 2

<klamkilla> and that obviously didnt help too much

<Churchkey> well already devs are on xbox, if it does better then GC, then they will move more so over to it..... but who knows, xbox could bomb in Japan, just saying IF xbox, an american console, outdoes N... first step to goodnight GC
<Hybrid> they released it on gc because it was the most powerful hardware at the time and didnt want to wait to release it on ps2

<Hybrid> yeah that will be a shot to GC but you are assuming the status of the 3 consoles will remain the same for roughly a 5 year period

<klamkilla> the fact that PS2 outsold XBOX and GC COMBINED durring their launch week should say something
<Churchkey> well duh.. only ps2 question is how big a lead, dominate ala psx? or much closer this time...
<Hybrid> so basically no matter what happens in the future, this fall will define the current generation

<klamkilla> Look, I want nintendo to do well too... I dont want to think I wasted my 200 which is the feeling I am getting as of right now
<Hybrid> im not saying this just because i want them to do well; im tired of others assuming gc is done because of the ports we are getting this first half of the year
<Churchkey> fall will be huge because of xbox gc, which does better will get much more support in the future which will spur more sales, more support.. and so on...
<klamkilla> even their third party "exclusives" (word used liberaly) cant stack up to XBUICK or PS2s exclusive 3rd party titles
<Churchkey> I mention cause I saw a report on MSNBC on Xbox coming to japan to match up agaisnt PS2....

<Churchkey> well they mainly talked xb, just mentioned its going up against an already large installed userbase in PS2.. and only mentioned game capabilites
<klamkilla> youre one of 4 N enthusiasts that cant admit the N is doing terrible

<Hybrid> well the mainstream media has been right in the past, so it makes sense. I do wish that GC was getting "started" faster though

<klamkilla> I think their troubles stem deeper than one man
<Hybrid> i think he can be blame for some of the archaic decisions like not letting magazines and sites have early beta systems to test games for previews
<Hybrid> i know its not JUST him, but his resignation should make an impact

<Hybrid> June should be big for gc though. Supposedly we are getting ED, starfox, and pso and modem
<Hybrid> im almost positive mario will make it but zelda and pokemon are sketchy

<Hybrid> i dont care about pokemon personally..but it will help them

<klamkilla> I think ED is getting overhyped solely because its one of like 3 M rated games
<Hybrid> yeah...i dont get why they cant sell the gba link cable in stores

<klamkilla> I think if it were comming out for PS2 or even XBOX it wouldnt get as much attention as it does
<Hybrid> well i havent seen this hype either...just ign grasping for content and some mags looking into the interesting concept of the game. After that, i havent heard anything else but release dates

<Hybrid> i think the fact that Nintendo isnt excluding games for all ages, they will always be labled as a less "mature" system

<Churchkey> well... there is a reason why games like Wolfenstein and GTA3 are on everything BUT Nintendo....

<Hybrid> i know ill be getting a lot of what ive been expecting at the end of this year and some more next year, plus i know a good deal about 3rd party relations and it doesnt dissapoint me to the fact of proclaiming GC's failure
<Hybrid> but when i say that, it comes out as "Nintendo is the best and theres no way it will fail"
<Churchkey> well see thats from your viewpoint of what games interest you...
<Hybrid> for the sole reason that i dont focus on the negative, i am assumed extremely "fanboyish"

<Churchkey> in general people like choices.. GC doesnt have.. the others do no matter what one thinks of the games availaibe, choice wins out
<Hybrid> im getting into more stuff like rpg's and fps's when before i would only play them once in a while. GC's current performance isnt as good as i expected but im not expecting failure just yet
<Hybrid> i dont have a ps2 because i cant afford 2 consoles right now, not because Nintendo is the only option for me
<Hybrid> i dont have xbox because it doesnt have enough that interests me
<Hybrid> and klam, you tend to think anyone who leans towards one company over another is a fanboy no matter how they think of everyone else
<Churchkey> well.. fact remains staring with xbox's launch, to E3, to the Holiday sales... GC has to get its act together or fall to far behind to catch up
<Hybrid> yeah, if they deliver on what ive heard, they should be able to keep up with xbox at least...but there should be more next year to do better
<Churchkey> but again... its this year that counts....
<Churchkey> and even 'keeping up with' xbox is sooo sad if you think about it.. GC shouldnt have to keep up, it should be far ahead....
<Hybrid> i think zelda and mario alone can carry the 4th quarter but they have to go somewhere from just the 2 biggest 1st party games and i think the first half of 2003 will also be important for gc with more of the 3rd party offerings coming then

<Hybrid> the problem gc has right now is that most of its great 3rd party games are on other consoles

<Churchkey> well its not that GCs 3rd party games are on other consoles, its that the ones GC is getting are like the B games, none are the A ones like a GTA3...
<Hybrid> but having a low level of biased...ness isnt a bad thing
