This is the third installment in the underrated Klonoa series. Empire
Of Dreams takes the series back to its 2-D roots.

Story: Someone is taking the dreams of others and turning them into nightmares.
Its up to Klonoa and his sidekick HuePow to right the wrongs. Meanwhile
the emperor of the Empire of Dreams Jillius has forbidden his subjects
to dream because his insomnia makes it impossible for him to sleep, and
the emperors minister Bagoo has ordered Klonoa to defeat four monsters
in exchange for his life, and thus the journey begins.

Graphics: Klonoa's graphics make for a pretty handheld adventure. The
background consist of prerendered imagery. The characters are highly detailed
and move with fluid motions. Stages are colorful showing off the GBA's
color abilities. Bosses are large, and almost have a cell shaded look
to them. During boss fights the stages even scroll in and out for a cool
effect. Before each stage and after boss battle, still scenes are presented
that explain the story with nicely drawn animation. The only draw back
to Klonoa's graphics would be the small size of all of the characters
not including the bosses.

Music/Sound The music is a fantasy esque compositions just as the Klonoa2
for the PS2 I've begin to grow quite fond of Klonoa's composer whoever
he may be. Sound effects and all are also fitting, and even Klonoa's underdetermined
language make it into the game. While the music is good unfortunately
one basic tune is used for the entire world, and a new one is presented
only after going to a new world.

Control: Klonoa's gameplay has never involved massive controlling and
the GBA outing doesn't make things any different. The A button jumps,B
and R attack and..well that's about it.

Gameplay: Classic 2-D romp. Its your job to collect 3 stars in each stage
and then head for the exit door. As you proceed through each stage you
must use your ring to create a wind bullet which pulls a enemy into your
hand where it can be used to reach higher areas, or attack other enemies.
There are 2 types of stags, puzzle stages and action stages. The puzzle
stages involve finding all 3 stars while solving mild puzzles. The action
stages consist of either riding a hoverboard to the goal or rushing to
the end of the stage while it scrolls forward in a attempt to leave you
behind. At the end of each level is a boss, which each have innovative
ways to defeat them, but all way too easy. The game is composed of 4 measly,
yet fun worlds, and unfortunately nothing to collect.

Gameover: Looking for a nice 2-D adventure on the GBA after Mario is
done, and Rayman is getting old, then look no more, but beware this game
is a easy one.
