The Next-Gen is upon us, and here's actually a game worth getting shot over!
So you camped out at Best Buy (literally) for 4 days and were 6th in line for a PS3... 5th after the guy in front of you had to go to the ER with a gunshot wound to the arm. Or maybe you were in line at Wal-Mart for 3 days and were fast enough/strong enough (and glad you brought that baseball bat...) when told the first 10 people to run to the electronics section would get a PS3. Whatever the case, you got one and you'll be damned if mind-exploding-WTF-level prices on eBay will make you part with it. So... now what. I'll tell you.
You get your ass back to where you got that PS3 and pick up Elite Beat Agents (and obviously a Nintendo DS if you don't have one yet). I must say I'm surprised at how bad ass rocking out to Sk8er Boi can actually be. I shit you not. Tapping and sliding the stylus to the beat is probably more fun than seeing Avril live (or so I'd assume... cough/).
My only fear is that I'll get too into the game and end up cracking the screen, especially during that spin thing at the end of a level. It's so easy to get carried away with trying to get a perfect Elite Beat 300. That and fear my head might explode from taking in all the crazy action. And that's before the actual game even starts.
There has been a number of games I've really liked on DS (Advanced Wars, Mario Kart, Meteos, Wario Ware Twisted...) and the whole Touch Generations thing can be enjoyable (I'm looking at you Big Brain Academy), but Elite Beat Agents blows them all away. And with a bootie shakin' soundtrack to boot! (Though there are some stinkers, Queens' I was Born to Love You comes to mind...)
Just when I was getting board with WFC Tetris and improving my Brain Age, EBA comes along and reminds me DS is a pretty darn cool machine. It's also the game that best fits the DS. It works great as a portable game. It uses the touch screen fantastically. It's win-win. Plus I didn't have to sell my soul for a PlayStation 3. (GameStop saved me from that fate when they reneged on my pre-order... grr, bastards. No, I'm not bitter.) So it's really win-win-win! ...Oh, chicks dig it too. Girl + Goal Post = Score! So it's win-win-win-win!!!
I plan to get a Wii and I'm sure Zelda will be great, but after that it's all about EBA. With the occasional PSU run...
Agents are... GO!!
