50+ people donate to buy an Xbox360 at launch and smash it

Over 50 people made donations to reach a goal of $430 (which they exceeded by a small amount) so that the owners of SmashMyXbox.com could buy an Xbox360 at midnight launch and smash it with a sledgehammer in front of a line of waiting customers. Their plan was a success, achieving their goal with just four days to spare.

The owners of the site say they'll post a short video tomorrow and a longer one in a few days. There are also a few pictures of the smashed console so you can see the damage. I can imagine how shocked and maybe even angered the 360 fans waiting in line were at the sight of their new God being smashed to bits, with full knowledge that there aren't enough units to meet the demand of hopeful buyers. I hope the entertainment is worth it.

IGN recently reported that the name of Xbox 2 seems to be "Xbox Next". But even more interesting is the fact Microsoft said it intends to launch Xbox Next BEFORE PlayStation 3 does.

Rare has left the building

After months and months of rampant rumors and speculation, our worst fears have come true. Rare is leaving Nintendo. They arn't just going 3rd party as once believed, they are now an Xbox 2nd party developer. Yes, Microsoft has bought out Rare. So StarFox Adventures will be last Rare game GC sees. It isn't "official" yet, but it is a done deal.

A Day at the Xbox

Recently while at the local Toy's R Us window shopping I noticed a flyer hanging from the Xbox display machine. It appeared that a small Xbox convention was coming to the quiet city of St.Louis at the Union Station shopping center. The flyer explained about all the Xbox games that were going to be able to be played including unreleased ones, and all the great prizes one could win. With this info and a thirst for games, two other friends and I headed out to savor in its Bill Gates goodness.
