Casual "Grandma" Non-Games

I tend to go through waves of playing a lot of games, to not playing any at all. Last fall I was at the top of that wave in large part due to all the new systems. But by early this year I was back to not playing much at all, and it had little to do with the lack of games on these new systems. I just didn't feel much like playing. It took me over two months to beat Twilight Princess. Don't get me wrong, it's a great game, but I just didn't have much desire to sit down and play it. Then I discovered the joys of simple, pick-up-and-play games.

Grandma's Boy - Video Games + Pot = Weeds + Pot

Calm down Mr. Math, I got an A in calculus too. I do realize I can simplify that equation by droping the Pot, but that doesn't mean it would stand for the same thing anymore. Take away the marijuana, and you're left with an empty bowl. In case you're still confused, I thought Grandma's Boy was a movie about a video game tester. But that's like saying Weeds is about a single mom living in the suburbs.

And before you wonder why I'm combining a movie produced by Happy Madison with a TV show produced by Showtime, they do have more in common than a magical herb. Three simple words: Kevin freakin' Nealon.

Damn you Nintendo, what have you done to my Samus...

Continuing my ever so popular series on how much Wii pisses me off, I bring you this ever so slightly 'late to the party' rant on terrible character models.

I mean if it wasn't bad enough that Nintendo is making me play the next installment of my beloved Metroid with outdated graphics, what they've done to Samus in Smash Bros. Brawl is unforgivable. Un-freakin-forgivable! Zero Suit Samus hurts me eyes, I wanna cry...

How I learned to stop hating and love the Nintendo DS...

Anyone who has been paying attention to the ongoings in our forum as of late know all about the mounting tension between the DS lovers (er lover) and all those that think 10 year old technology on a tiny screen just doesn't sound like much fun. It didn't help that the DS itself had no style whatsoever. Is it too much to ask that something you carry around not look like crap? Apparently so. Until the DS lite that is...

Much like the Revolution, Nintendo finally saw fit to make a machine that isn't painful to look at. Sure it is still based on decade old tech specs, but this is a portable device. I really don't care to play Resident Evil or Metal Gear Solid on the go. Give me wifi Tetris, Mario Kart, Advanced Wars, and a New Super Mario Bros. any day over those. If only Sega would wake up and give us what we all want, Chu Chu Rocket. But there is another reason why I've changed my stance on the DS.

Music you need to listen to now, Volume 87

With the utter lack of interesting things to play (cram it DS boy), I thought instead I'd waste my time exploring the wonderful world of music and music related music. It is a vast world out there afterall, or so I'm told at least.

So yes, this is mainly a post for the sake of posting. I was going to do a blog post ranting how much my life sucks and the only one who understands me is Gerald Way. But seeing as how the humor of my 'angle' pics fell flat, I don't need people thinking I really have fallen into my own little space... dot com.

Resident Evil 4 Sucks!

We have a thread in our forum titled "The 'Official' Resident Evil sucks thread", but because of all the early reviews proclaiming the greatness of RE4, it quickly turned into "The 'Official' Resident Evil rules thread". No more!

Tired of seeing the same games win Game of the Year awards site after site? Well here comes Hybrid to the rescue! Nbrid's founder and Grand Master pulls himself away from the TV to tell you what games to buy. This is not a suggestion.

Sorry for the delay, I've been swamped with "submissions" (most were spam). Here though is a "factual" listing of "facts" on you-know-who. Maybe we should give in and just change our name to "NBrid: Is Tupac Dead Central".

Sessler: "We give it a 5... out of 10?" (X-Play)

Everyone loves G4techTV's X-Play, except for the fact they rate games out of 5. Is it really that big of a deal? Is a 10-point scale fundamentally better? Is an 8.0 game really better than a 4 game? Is this a rhetorical question?
