So I used to complain that only people searching for a certain rapper visited this place. What kind of idiots came to a VIDEO GAME site to read up on him? Oh yeah, they are dumb enough to think he's still alive. So mad at my negative comments, trying to prove me wrong, people instead made a list of the top RPGs the #1 read article. AHHH! Sure it's about video games this time, but it wasn't written by me! So now I'm out to change that.

I just don't know what to do... The PS3, while a technological marvel, lacks heart, and games. Coming soon the 360 will have a number of sweet sci-fi shooters, FPS games, and, umm, that's about as diverse as it gets. The Wii? Well, let's just say graphics arn't everything. Much like how ugly people say looks arn't everything.

Our good pal Nick (you know, that guy who started Nbrid but sold the rights to Conn for a toolbox of M&Ms...) has put up his "Top Games of 2005". Makes IGN's list look like crap. What can I say, I just like the Verdana font more than Tahoma.

Here's a snipit: "Genres continue to expand and I find it very hard to differentiate action, adventure, and platforming games. So basically I am putting games in the categories that they stand out the most."

Originally I was going to do a 'Best of this Generation' vote since thanks to the premature release of the 360, the 'current' generation has come to an end. However, thanks to Nintendo delaying Zelda (which was sure to be a high vote getter), I've decided not to. Yes, I agree. It will be hard for Zelda TP to beat out RE4 and Metroid Prime, but I was going to list the top 5 for each system (and overall). So we'll have to wait and see if Zelda can beat out Eternal Darkness some other time.

This fall has been one of the weaker falls in recent memory in terms of blockbuster games. All the really big games (RE4, God of War, Killer 7... cough/) came out in the spring or summer. No wonder 360 sold to people willing to cash in their 401K for another generic FPS. Even me, "Mr. Hardly Ever Buys Games Anymore", only got one game this fall (Fire Emblem... which you all should go out and buy right now!). So it seems pointless to do any kind of vote whatsoever (is that one word? or should it be hyphenated?).

50+ people donate to buy an Xbox360 at launch and smash it

Over 50 people made donations to reach a goal of $430 (which they exceeded by a small amount) so that the owners of SmashMyXbox.com could buy an Xbox360 at midnight launch and smash it with a sledgehammer in front of a line of waiting customers. Their plan was a success, achieving their goal with just four days to spare.

The owners of the site say they'll post a short video tomorrow and a longer one in a few days. There are also a few pictures of the smashed console so you can see the damage. I can imagine how shocked and maybe even angered the 360 fans waiting in line were at the sight of their new God being smashed to bits, with full knowledge that there aren't enough units to meet the demand of hopeful buyers. I hope the entertainment is worth it.

Spike TV 2005 Video Game Farce, err Awards...

Some of you may recall an article I posted two years ago on the first ever Spike TV Video Game Awards. Suffice to say I didn't walk away with anything close to a positive impression. When the 2004 awards were held, I didn't bother to watch. Fast forward to 2005, and I didn't even know they were still holding this thing. Why?!

Seems under the cover of darkness, they taped the show recently, and based on a GameSpot posting, nothing has changed. Just look at the list of winners (I'd add a spoiler tag since the show hasn't aired yet... but yeah, why?)

Everyone loves G4techTV's X-Play, except for the fact they rate games out of 5. Is it really that big of a deal? Is a 10-point scale fundamentally better? Is an 8.0 game really better than a 4 game? Is this a rhetorical question?

Announced back in March, the merger of G4TV and TechTV becomes a reality starting today. Under the 'new' name of G4techTV, the cable TV channel seems to lean more towards the "G4" side of things than the "Tech" side.
